Espada Any Good

Well I finally got one the Fancy large Espada, boy is it sweet and built great. I think today I'll be playing with it somewhat to get a feel for it., I must be careful as well as I'm a little accident prone. I'm already looking at the XL:) it's a sickness I swear but seems like a good one anyway.
Well Thanks for the help and the pics and info you folks have been great.

For many years , these two :

Takes some getting used to , if you normally carry small ones .

Best to devote a whole pocket to just one of these , or belt carry .

Wouldn't mind getting a Talwar like yours Doc I like that one as well. Also I was noticing how slick the smooth G10 is when I'm trying to pull my new large espada out of my pocket. It makes it kind of hard to get a hold of and hold onto although the clip is rather tight as well. Maybe a lanyard i dunno. I think your going the right direction with getting the rough handles for edc, probably easier to grip and just different steel. Anyway nice pics, Thanks.

I don't know Doc, because I seen a guy on the net the other day and he milled a hole real professional like in the butt and had added a lanyard to it and used it to help pull it from his pocket.

I'll have to look for it as I was all over the place looking for reviews on the large g-10 espada, and also the xl version before I purchased mine.

I'm not saying it can't be done .

Just that I'd be kinda afraid to .

But I'm talking the G10 . The Fancy has stronger materials .

Picture or link?
I just looked and the guy is on utube as [knifegunguy] with the lanyard on a large espada and it looks nice, check it out. I typed in { Putting a lanyard on a Cold Steel Espada} and it was at the top of the page.

Espada came in.

Lock is a little gritty feeling but it will break in. I had some roughness a few years back on my Tanto XL Recon 1, when opening the blade, it cleared up.

I noticed that about mine just as you start to pull the blade up from it's closed position there seems to be a little roughness at the first inch of opening. I guess this will go away in time though. It's my first knife with the Demko lock so hopefully it will clear up.

I think most/all of my new Cold Steel folders with the Triad lock had this roughness during the initial part of opening the knife. I took them apart and carefully/lightly smoothed the offending area of the blade tang with some 1000grit SiC paper wrapped around a brass rod. Big improvement...

If you a tinkerer, you can do a lot to smooth and ease the operation of the Cold Steel folders. Otherwise, continuous opening and closing while you're sitting in front of the boob tube will help a lot.
