Ethan's Spring Gathering May 18,19,20

Ethan, I too want to thank you for having us for the gathering. As always, it was a blast and I can't wait till the fall. You and Susan are great hosts! It was great to add some new Beckerhead friends.

I had a really good time and I hope everybody else did too. I think though that the best line of the weekend was "Am I gonna need pants? - Psyop", Although there were countless others.

You have to also add Moosez reply " No, just get your boots!"

Made it home on time. Had a great time boss, as did my brother. For everyone else, I am going to bed. 4+ nights of less than 4 hours of sleep wears a man down. More posting tomorrow, although I hate to say it, but I got little in the way of pics. No camera makes it kinda hard.

Newbs that attended, it was great meeting you guys. Had an awesome time. Hope everyone got home safe and sound.

Hey folks, we pulled into Lexington at about 5 pm last night and will continue home to Toronto this morning (another 10-12 hours of driving). Christine and I had a fabulous time. Everybody was very welcoming and the seminars/classes were very informative.

I want to especially thank Ethan and Susan (and everyone that was involved with the preparation) for hosting such a wonderful get-together.

We got some pics that we'll post when we get home.

Just got moving for the day, was a little too tired last night to even check in. The Gathering was definitely an exercise in having too much fun! I have so much material I want to post that I'll trickle up as I sort it all out. I really can't express enough gratitude for everyone, especially the gracious Becker family for putting up with us, Moose for all that he does, and especially the boss for having us, and for the astounding amount of information that he imparts.

Well getting through Nashville was a nightmare. 1066vik and I made it to my house at 320 am. Had a great time thanks Ethan.

When Murph invited me to the gathering, I said "yeah I'll go!" As a knifemaker I thought it would be cool to meet a knife icon, do a little camping, maybe learn a few things and probably meet a few cool people. What I got was so much more. First off. Enough good can be said about the host and hostess. Ethan and Susan are two of the warmest people I have had the pleasure to meet. Upon our arrival, as soon as I stepped from the vehicle they were both greating me with firm handshakes and pleasent conversation, truley making me feel welcome opposed to just being courteous to a stranger. As I soon found out, that was just the first pleasent suprise through out the whole weekend. There is no way to express all of the positive experences I took home from this trip. I knew I would lear something from Ethan, but what I didn't expect was what I learned from everyone else. Not just about knives but about cooking, forging, friendship, comradery, compassion, trust, and life in gereral to only name a few. Not to mention how to go 3 days without a shower and not smell like the backside of a skunk. To come away from this weekend with a head full of years worth of knoweledge and now lifelong friends was not only awe inspirering but a blessing. Thank you everyone.

P.s. my favorite quote of the weekend might be best saved for pirates cove. (Thrillbilly - gutsy)

"Do I need pants!?!?"

I had some issues getting home. I spent a few hours on the side of I 40. I got home late but safe.

I'll explain more later.

Enough thanks can't be said to Ethan and Susan! You two are the greatest; especially for putting up with all of us for the weekend.

It was great meeting everyone! Hope to see you again next time.

As has been stated plenty, it was awesome! This is only my second gathering but I'm still amazed at the level of hospitality that Mr. Becker and his family exhibit during this great gathering. I can only hope to achieve this level someday. There was great camaraderie amongst the veterans as well as the new folks. I left with a better understanding and appreciation of everyone there. Ethan, to you and Susan as well as the rest of your family(including Moose) I cannot thank you enough for this great experience and I hope to return the generosity some day. Unfortunately my camera situation is lacking at the moment and my phone was an insufficient stand-in. I didn't manage many pix as my battery was constantly drained from lack of signal(truly a blessing). Here's what I have.

Everyone that contributed to our meals did wonderfully. The food was really spectacular! Unfortunately for those not in attendance or never having experienced Ethan & John's culinary mastery I cannot describe it's level of perfection.

Sounds like a great time I would love to attend one day. About how many were their? I got to speak with Ethan on the phone once a long time ago. Way back when the machax was the one and only Becker. It would be nice to meet the man that gave us so much. Glad all had a good time.

Excellent sir! She's already wound up about the fall as well. Can't wait to hear what they say!

oh gawd . what did i say that would be so deserving of the pirates cove ? was it about panty scalping ?

sounds like she's "in" :) heck, even if Murph can't make it, maybe she can :D

i'm hoping for the Fall - we'll see what we see though. i'm planning on not making plans that might interfere. life has its own agenda though.

my weekend? damn fine. 400 people, 3 meals a day, hot showers, and 5 hours of grueling circus arts courses a day, plus swimming and fire spinning all nite. it was a blast :>

no Beckerheads though. sad nana.

Im wore out to the floor and have to get some sleep, but I wanted to Thank Ethan and everyone else who helped make this possible first. One of the best weekends of my life no doubt.

Yeah Papa Tango, we got the gift basket. It was my responsibility to make sure we got a photo and a big ole thread was started to thank you for it. As you might have guessed, I kinda dropped the ball there. By the time I got back down to the shop after it arrived, it had been pillaged. We did get it though, and those that attended as well as Uncle Ethan were very grateful. Thanks man.

I made it back safe and just in time to make it to the renaissance fair with about two hours to walk around. I think I may have fallen asleep while walking at one point. The gathering was outstanding and I am amazed at the level of hospitality and friendship that was present. It’s nice to go somewhere and be around people that don’t immediately say “why do you need a knife that big?” Thank you Mr. Becker and Moose for putting on an outstanding event; it was great to finally put faces to names.

Thank you DerekH! I was afraid they left it at the wrong door or something not knowing to look for the "B" sign or something :P Looking forward to more food pics!

Hey Poppa Tango.......

What a nice gesture.......the pinapple will be ripe in a couple of days and will be devoured with glee.....I got a couple of the chocolate covered nuts(delicious) before the ravening horde swooped in and shoveled the rest.......This fall try to bring yoursel.....

Thanks again......

Ethan
