I bought a 0392WC for $390 from Ethelred listed in this thread http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1449384-ZT-0392-Limited-Edition?highlight=0392

It's been three days since payment, I haven't heard anything from seller after multiple attempts to contact the seller with PMs (PM was working perfectly for us before the payment was made; unlikely it has suddenly stopped working). Just tried email as well.

Ethelred, if you see this, I'd be grateful if you just confirm receipt of payment and let me know when do you expect to ship out the knife. I am not passing judgment, but am frustrated with the prolonged radio silence after this big $ purchase.

I sent him a PM with a link to this thread. It looks like he hasn't been on BF since the 27th.

I have dealt with him in the past and had no issue. My guess is that there is some kind of emergency that he is dealing with.

Good lord, couple of days since payment and you are already posting in this forum section because he has not contacted you?
Seriously. How did you pay? The guy had 50+ positive feed backs. You need to chill. If a week from now you got nothing from him then I can start to understand. Have some patience, people have lives. I do not know either party here but geez.

If I paid a stranger $390 for a knife and never heard a peep back in a three day period, I'd be a little concerned as well. People with equivalent or more feedback have unsuspectingly went hiatus. It happens.

Goodluck OP.

The key is I heard nothing back since payment, and he was communicating with me 45 minutes before payment was made. What I ask is an acknowledgement that the sale occurred and some estimated timing for shipment, it will take a couple of minutes of his time. Sorry sir, I don't understand how the "people have lives" argument can be even remotely convincing here. When you take somebody else's $390, you would have at least a little responsibility as well.

Im not sure but he may have missed the part where the op said he had made multiple attempts to contact seller. I would be wondering myself. Ifethelred lives where i do we just had a rough three days with the wildfires here in gatlinburg pigeon forge area. Good luck op i hope it all works out

Did you pay using "Goods" or "Friends and Family". I think I already know the answer, because I doubt you would need to be posting here if you had paid by Goods.

I have bought ~ 35 knives off the Exchange and each time I sent payment the seller notified me.
I think the OP is correct posting this here.......comms were good till he got the cash. To go dark at that time is quite questionable and I'd be a bit nervous also!
We're not talking $40 here.
Hope you get squared away Z!!
Joe

Edit......Z, please let us know you paid G&S!!!

I read all of what the OP said. He paid late Sunday night. The seller likely may not even have been aware of the payment until Monday. OK the OP sent a few PMs that were not answered immediately. So, technically two days later he comes here and posts this, essentially bashing the guy. Now, I never said that the OP should not be a little concerned. However a couple of days of no communication from a member that has been here 10+ years and with 50+ positive FBs - should not necessitate Posting in the good bad and ugly. It would be nice if he answered you quickly - yes. But, I feel you have made a major breach of etiquette by posting here so soon. At least give the dude a week. Who knows he may have mailed it and went out of town.
It's one thing not to (or be able to) respond to a pm in a couple of days >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> posting this here so soon, is an entirely different situation.
Hope it all works out. Does anyone get what I am saying here?

Ask before you send payment, when they expect to ship and ask for tracking numbers as soon as shipped. That way you know of the seller is not meeting deadlines, instead of guessing.

Nope. If he took the man's money, he owes him a prompt response. The Op was absolutely in the right to post his concerns here.

I think this is correct. Absent physical impossibility (e.g, the OP was suddenly swept away by a flood and is now crawling through the woods back to his house), there is absolutely no excuse for not contacting the person who paid you a substantial sum with an update about whether it's shipped, etc.

I don't agree... you are entitled to your opinion but when you are talking this kind of money a much quicker response is warranted. As far as dragging the seller's name through the mud, OP clearly stated what has happened and if there was some kind of emergency (medical or otherwise) OP can always deleted the seller's name from the the thread heading. If I was in OP's shoes, I'd be very concerned too.

The sales thread says "will ship within 1-2 business days".

The "breach of etiquette" (imo) is with the seller, not the OP. Would I have started a thread in the same time frame as the OP, probably not. But as a seller, I've always felt communication is key and a simple "Funds received" pm or email, in my experience, is the norm.

Proper etiquette is to confirm you received the payment, followed by tracking # when shipped( reverse side -quick payment and confirming arrival of item). The seller has failed to do both so far. Maybe something has prevented him from doing so and if it is a good reason the OP can make it clear that all has been resolved. So far the OP has not tarnished the sellers reputation-he is just asking for communication, not calling him a thief. Any blemish to the sellers rep has been self inflicted-he has not handled his transaction well.
Sure people have lives, but by agreeing to sell to someone and taking their money, you have certain responsibilities that you have to take care of, not put at the bottom of the list IMO
If your too busy to complete the transaction, don't sell( reverse-if buyer is too busy to pay don't say I'll take it).

I hear what many of you are saying. Would I be concerned - yes, a little. Did the seller cause a certain level of concern by the OP - yes. I am not defending the seller in anyway.
I just don't think this needs to be here so fast. Maybe I am more patient/understanding sometimes. Perhaps it is also how I look at the GBU section. Good can be posted anytime. When you are talking about the Bad or Ugly part - I see calling someone out in public as being a last resort; not the first thing you do in two days if you have a "potential concern". And again, I do hope this works out for the OP. thanks Guys.

I'd want to know what was up too. OP deserves at least an acknowledgment that his payment was received. (I'd have even more sympathy if he wasn't a "prefer f&f" seller, but that's for another thread).
