^^^^ These

Hopefully, this will be a BF lesson learned, Russ. Best of luck moving forward.

There will always me more incredible BF deals to come & awesome knives to buy...something better will eventually come along.

Well said. Thanks! :)

That's a good point, and why I believe a Paypal address should be included in the sale thread (a lesson for future sales).

I highly disagree.

Most people's PayPal addresses are their email address (or even phone number:eek:). With it posted, you can receive emails from people outside BF. No thank you.

As registered user you don't have access to PMs but you still have a some options to communicate.

1. Email the seller through the BF function in their profile tab. If it's not activated resort to number 2.

2. Leave a Visiters Message with your email or put your email in your "I'll take it" post. Both can be edited out later.

I'll let my feedback speak for itself. I've completed many transactions here without failure, drama, or stress.

If you commit to buying a knife, you commit to paying for it. If fast shipping is expected no my part, fast payment is just as expected on your part.

In this instance I contacted THE BUYER with both of these methods. After receiving no response within 24 hours, I canceled the sale and edited the visitor message which had my info in it.

Well said for the most part. Leaving a PP address in any public place (forum, etc.) can result in spam and unwanted attention to your PP address. I only provide my email addresses via PM or email. Absolutely not a good idea to publicly post any personal info.

And you did nothing wrong. That is your right as a seller.

My only suggestion is to activate your email so a Registered User can start a line of dialogue right away.

That may be so, but this thread was started about me.

The facts are simple:

- Buyer said, "I'll Take It"
- Seller Contacted Buyer Within 22 Minutes via Sales Thread
- After No Communication, Seller Contacted Buyer Via Visitor Message, With Payment Info
- After No Communication, Seller Contacted Buyer With E-mail Contact Form
- After No Communication, Seller Cancels Sale & Removes Personal Information
- Buyer Starts Feedback Thread

The way I'm looking at it, if anyone should be starting a thread in this instance, it's the Seller, not the Buyer.

You did your due diligence and in the end choose to sell to someone else. No slight there.

I hope you didn't take my suggestion as an implication of any wrong doing on your part.

You understand that communication is key in any transaction. I only meant that opening up one more line would benefit all parties.

Once the buyer commits, a 24 hour delay in payment should not be such a fatal error that it negates the entire sale. contrary to most sellers (myself included) there IS life outside of Bladeforums. when I say "I will take it" but know I won't be sending payment for a day I communicate that to the seller. to say I will take it and then maintain silence for 24 hours is unnerving to the seller. communication is the key, and it appears there was a breakdown here. If you are not going to pay instantly please tell the seller!!

Anyway, the seller can sell to whomever he wants to, period. However, the insult to the buyer was inappropriate and totally unnecessary!!

This is exactly what I agree with.

The Insult:

I wasn't being non-communicative. I just got home today and got your message. I see you've already pulled your Paypal address off. If you still want to sell the knife you can e-mail me at russ.prechtl@sabic-ip.com. I'll give you more than three hours to respond to me on a holiday weekend!

Any more excuses?

PRICE drop, $10 off to anyone who buys the Sequel as long as their name ain't Russ

Payment is expected to be prompt

The way I see it, by making a post that should have been reserved for personal message -- or e-mail in this instance since the Buyer does not have the ability to PM -- I simply turned lemons into lemonade and sold the knife to a willing buyer. If Russ Pretchl was offended by this, I'm sorry, he should have communicated with me in private instead of in a public sales arena.

Oh, and saying that you're going to buy something and then disappearing for 24-hours without communication is the definition of non-communicative. Saying otherwise is an excuse.

Am I wrong?

You are not wrong as to the overall sale of this knife. It's your knife and you can sell it to whomever, whenever. I too would have broken into a sweat after committing to a buyer and not get paid or talked to immediately. I only sell knives when I need money ASAP (go figure) and any delay in payment does not help.

As to the comment, are your "wrong"? It's not a right or wrong thing, it's just an unnecessary thing. but heck, there's a ton of things you could have said that would have been truly wrong, i applaud your restraint.

I need some popcorn............so melodramatic
I give a buyer a SET TIME and a FULL communication on my behalf to
let them know I REQUIRE Payment with in a set time
IF they do not do that
OH WELL.
I sell to next in line
Meaning no disrespect.
the NEW FOLKS in here need to learn full RULES-
How things work in here. NOT HOW the buyer feels they should work..
There is a right and a wrong..
The seller was doing his thing.
THE buyer is upset because it didnt go as he had planned..
WELCOME too BladeForums..
Stick around.. You will learn more and be far more disappointed..
I promise.. Due too a knife sold seconds before you called for it..or you dont have the cash and
a grail knife is for sale..
The list goes on.
This pettiness is really getting out of hand..
MERELY my opinion..
You all see them how ever you wish..
Good luck too both parties

This is yet another example of a preventable issue, that did not need to be turned into a disaster. The seller can sell to whomever they like, we only provide the venue. If the day came where we have to tell everyone how to behave every step of the way without them having any input into their own actions, Spark would simply close this section off entirely.

If people read the rules, or lurked around reading a bit more then they do many of these things wouldn't even make it this far. As for the insults, there is no need for it here, not now not ever. It derails discussion, breeds hostility, and creates an unpleasant environment for everyone. Why?
