Evapo-Rust

I have some converter I used just last month
doing touch-up on a car we sold.
I'll give it a try.
If it is solid enough to stand up to sanding
it may be a good alternative when pits are getting large & deep.

Does anyone see a problem with making a narrow trough out of aluminum sheeting so I can soak an entire blade all at once? The information on the container does not suggest that it will attack aluminum.

Thomas it might be best to soak a piece of aluminium in the chemical first to see how it reacts. If it holds up then go for it.:)

Try using a "fish poaching" pan...you know, the kind Emiril uses on his cooking show. It even comes with a cover. Looks like it just might work and if you want to spring for it, it comes in stainless steel.

I was striving for a total immersion of the blade up to the bolster and a dry handle -- all with the minimum of solution. I thought "deep and narrow." That way I could suspend the khuk just so.

I'm guessing aluminum would work fine.
You might be able to find plastic.
Plastic gutter would work great (with ends glued on)
but probably too wide to work with a small volume of E-Rust.

!
Might try wrapping the blade in paper towel,
wrapping that with heavy plastic bag
loose enough to let solution move,
then adding solution to keep it all wet.
E-Rust instructions at website
say something along this line for items
that don't fit into a container.

I think it was one of those how to forums. that suggested that the unwanted particles in the evapo rust could be removed by running the Evaprust through double coffee filters. I don't have any to try it but I see no reason why it wouldn't work.:)
