Ever been satisfied with a factory edge?

I picked up a spyderco resilience that came with a supid sharp edge on it. I showed it to my friend .He cut himself and didn't even know it for 5 min. when he saw blood. That was before I had strops so now I don't care how sharp it is, if it is not polished it is going to get stroped.

Kershaw has always treated me right. Never had a problem with their knives being too dull, in fact, quite the contrary.

Well its not a user which is why i have a trade thread on it, but my William Henry T12 Yucatan is crazy sharp new, hands down the best factory edge ive gotten. SOG does a good job, too bad I dont really like any of their knives.

Factory edges tend to be too rough and gritty looking/feeling for me. I usually put my own edges on my knives within a few days of owning them. That's just my preference though.

my kershaw leek/skyline fixed blade came pretty great!
most recently impressed by my para2!

Some Spyderco and Emerson edges were the sharpest factory edges for me. Also had a kershaw hawk flipper that was very sharp and didn't need any work. I think it was like $39 shipped.

The sharpest edges I have had on new knives in descending order of sharpness:
1. Randall #8
2. Spyderco Gayle Bradley
3. Emerson CQC 10

I have mostly Mid-priced knives. No customs. Needless to say, they all get sharpened by me. I like a polished edge and there is no way a $200 knife is going to come from that when they make hundreds a day. No problem, just how it is. Sharpest knife I have ever got out of the box was a Cold Steel Spartan, but still even though it was hair shaving sharp, it need that little extra special treatment.

Spyderco has always delivered when it comes to factory edges, also I've felt that when it comes to convex edges Busse doesn't skimp like they normally do, but rather the opposite, even telling you who sharpened your knife.

My benchmade 710 that I had a blade replacement for had the most even edge out of box I've had. Nearly a perfect 40º edge out of box and perfectly even. Blade that qss there before not so much. Buck vantage avid the same way but with the advantage of being polished out of box which is nice to see.

Ever been satisfied with a factory edge?

"satisfied" maybe isn't the correct term. The first thing I do when I get a knife is fuss with the edge. That isn't saying that every knife came dull, though some did. But no matter how sharp it is, I will fuss with it.

I got a Rough Rider for Christmas from my brother couldn't believe it; very sharp, nicely jigged bone scales, very nice fit and finish. Grooved bolsters, match strike pulls. Pinned shield ect he said he paid less than 20$. What's up with that

Spyderco Endura Wave taught ME what a factory sharp blade was all about...or maybe it was just the BLOOD.
