Ever bought a knife because of a pic on this forum?

I'm guessing I'm not the only one who has been "pushed over the edge" by a pic on this forum. You know ….. you're having that internal conversation with yourself on whether you should buy this knife, or not. Looking around the forum to see what other people have to say about the knife. What handle covers would I want? Etc. And then BAM! ….. here's this pic and your decision is made!

Here's the one that did it for me: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-ur-favorite-stockman?p=14688561#post14688561 Dixie Stockman in African Blackwood.

Thanks Will! ;) Ordered one just like it a few minutes ago.

How about the rest of you? Any stories to tell? Too many to count? Never done it? Ever done it? :D

Picture only, no. Reviews ... oh yes ... especially on the Rough Rider and Colt ...

Does a bear C _ _ P in the woods?

You bettcha on both counts.

Peter

New guy on the Forum, but I've been drooling over pics for quite a while. I've bought GEC, Case, Victorinox SAK's and Canal Street folders based off the beautiful pics members post.
This is a great place to see the models you're interested in and also read "reviews" from owners of the knives.

Was that a rhetorical question? Not only has this forum guided me on all of my traditional purchases, but without it I would have been pretty much ignorant of the entire category. Before BF my sole exposure to traditionals was a boy scout knife back in the 70's and a couple of Buck stockmen (none of which I still have). I had no idea there was more. Now I have three GECs and spend hours each week drooling over online catalogs.

BTW, all three of my traditional purchases were from BF supporting vendors.

Just early this morning, picked up one of the Lick Creek Farmers Jack in antique bone because of pictures posted in that thread.

Oh boy, that's a loaded question! I'm just going to say yes and leave out the possible pages of details!:D

I take into account the reviews and comments also.

Before finding Bladeforums I owned two knives. A Buck 110 and a slip-joint pocketknife. I now have a dozen or so 110 and 110 type folders. Somewhere between 70 and 100 slip-joints, both traditonal and saks. A half dozen fixed blades and three modern folders.
Yeah I look at pictures on this forum, then I buy knives. ;) My wife is so proud of me.

Rhetorical question? Loaded question? Pretty much guilty on both counts!

Like others have said, I actually depend on the comments & pics on this forum when it comes to selecting a new knife. But sometimes there's that final comment or pic that really seals the deal. That's what happened today. ;)

Yes I most certainly have this same problem (though I'm not complaining), I think this phenomenon is similar to the seafood diet.

Dang ole' Will Power! That same pic caused me to get an 82 as well. :D Just came in today, and it might just be my favorite GEC to date!

That's pretty cool - wonder how many other knives that pic has sold? Glad to hear you like it!

I believe that question should be posted in the dictionary as the #1 example of "rhetorical question". :D
