Ever bought a knife because of a pic on this forum?

coyote 711,
Funny you ask this question.
I came to this forum a short time ago to research an old Boker slip joint I've had for years.

That 'research' lead to my discovery of GEC which lead to my discovery of Knives Ship Free, the most comprehensive knife shop I've ever stepped foot in, which just happens to be in my neighborhood, relatively speaking.

So, often times it goes like this for me:
Do more 'research' on this forum, look at photos , then drive to KSF and browse the cases with research in hand.

Also, coyote, thanks to one of Your photos I ended up buying one of Your knives. [emoji1]

Ah yes ….. GEC 73, IIRC! (Thanks again)!

Oh man, that would be fairly dangerous living close to a knife dealer such as KSF!!!;):D

Hi, my name is Dean and I'm a knife nut. It all began with just one photo in the Traditional Forum at Bladeforums.com...

This month alone I bought four GEC #15s that I had been admiring in some of the excellent photographic essays here (two of them I counted myself fortunate to nab - a TC Barlow and a Radio Jack).

It wouldn't be so bad if the photos didn't do justice to the knives, but more often than not they do.

Thanks!!

Yep Keith is good at that for sure! I think his pictures have made me buy 2 of his knives & my dad has bought 2 or 3 of Keith's knives. ;)

You are not alone. I keep asking myself the question, do you need it or do you want it ? Very difficult to abstain.

Indeed, there is an inherent danger in frequenting these forums !

For sure brother. I'm new to the forum but not knives, wish I would have found it earlier. It's like a place to congregate for attics... of knives of course lol. I won't buy another knife without browsing the forums to see if there is any info on it.

I bought my first traditional, a Single Sheepfoot TC Charlow in Smooth Ivory Bone, because of a picture in the general edc thread.

Keith, forget "pushed over the edge." I've bought knives I didn't even really want because of pics in this forum! :(

Based on a pic? A miniature keychain model Resolza based on Jackknife's review and threads; I forget the brand name.

Based on a review? My Buck 310 (never knew of it until I read about it here), a couple of Rough Riders, and a Vic Bantam. I also got some Opinels, which I'm not sure of. The only ones I regret were a Buck 303 (too heavy for pocket carry for me) and--sorry, Carl--the Case Peanut. It's a decent size for pocket carry (the 305 is better), but neither lends itself to easy manipulation for use.

Yes, Eric's Jack and, just last night, a Tuna Valley Railsplitter. This forum is pure trouble. :p
