Ever Buy a Backup?

Do Buck 110's count?

I have regular 110's, too.

at one point I had two active Kabar Warthogs, at 10 bucks a pop you really can't beat em. The old much loved user became the beater work knife and the new one became the around town off duty carry. Nowadays I spend more time using fixed blades, I've had multiple SEAL pups, MORAs, etc.

I've recently found myself WISHING I'd bought a backup for my original Manix (w/ Dino Jimping) as it's my perfect EDC folder. I just love everything about this knife, from ergos & size (I have big mitts) to the G10, blade shape, and overall solid feel. Wish I had picked up another prior to them being discontinued...

I know what your saying, I wish that I had purchased two of the Mini Manix.
As it stands, I can't bring myself to using the one that I do have. :p

I forgot my new Kershaw 1725SG2 in Ti & SG2 from ~1.5yr ago. Rare then, I wouldn't carry it - it was too 'dear' to me. Earlier this year, Kershawguy provided a blemished one at a fraction of the original's price - a user! That way, one day my son will inherit a really nice one! He said he wished I'd quit spending his inhertance! I hope he likes 110's...

I only have one backup. I EDC a Vic alox Soldier and a few weeks ago I chipped the blade cutting the plastic cover off a steel cable. I felt so bad because they're discontinued but it's my favorite EDC blade so I bought another off the bay just in case. I know if I broke the blade Victorinox would warrenty it but the replacement blade likely wouldn't have the date stamp on it.

yeah man, i always figured it was because i was ocd about it, but...maybe not. i always feel more comfortable having a duplicate that i keep stashed in my collection or tool box of a good quality tool. i dont think its aby-normal in any way; but it probably does not reflect well on my priorities lol

I've bought a set of Delica's but only cuz they were in different colors and not as back ups, I have bought 2 Izula's, one being a back up.. I've thought about buying the tenacious as a back up to my persistence (I just love this knife for the money its a winner)..

Just the other day I was at walmart and they had a closeout on the Kershaw skyline, which I have and absolutely love for $25 !!!! yikes, I didn't buy one but now may have to make a trip down there..

I buy backups of some of my favorites, and a lot of limited runs these days. I usually buy two of a limited run I think I'll like a lot. Worst case is I can sell the extra and if I'm lucky even make a small profit.

When buying a limited knife that I might fall in love with and not be able to buy later, I almost always buy 2. If I don't like it that much then I can sell off one or both. I think I'm down to 5 Benchmade Rift which is my absolute favorite knife. If there were more versions of it then I would have more. I have a couple of the Spyderco Manix 2 also.

That's a buttload of M2's! I think you've spent more money on M2's alone than I have on the entire light and knife hobby combined!

No, I don't buy duplicates because there are too many things out there that I like and want. Buying a duplicate would only slow me down in achieving my collecting goals.

lets see, i have 3 red black micarta t2 lone wolfs, 2 t3 in black frn, 2 t2 in black frn, 2 g10 t1s (as well as 2 others), 2 cheyennes, 2 blackfoots, and 2 ritter grip m4s...

so yes, i do.
