Ever buy a knife on an impluse........

Usually no. And definitely not folders. The time I'm most susceptible to impulse buy is when I'm in a knife store.

Last impulse buy was a Buck CSAR-T Liason fixed. Sure glad I bought it.

Another that comes to mind was a Ka-Bar Acheron that goes perfectly with my USMC in dual rig or as a replacement karda on my khukuri. Fits nicely over my windshield visor too.

Best impulse buy ever was probably a BK-11 san mai when the 11's first came out.

The last bad impulse buy was probably a Gerber of some nature back in the '70's or '80's.

Almost every time I go to my knife store. I go in for a certain knife and leave with 3 different ones instead. He always has good used deals that are barely or never used.

I try to research what I actually buy. Sometimes with trades I can be a bit impulsive but I try to stop and make sure I'm really wanting something before. The only regret I have is trading a user Sage 2 and Native 5 for a custom Manix 2. Manix is gone Native is back still waiting to pounce on a Sage 2

Nope but I did an impulse buy on a Sharpmaker a few days ago and don't regret it and will end up adding more stones to it. Definately the ultra fines and maybe the coarser ones if propping up a stone on it doesn't work that well for me. Right now I am just trying to get my technique dialed in before I add the ultra fines, I may end up just adding the coarser ones for now to help with the reprofiling of knives to the appropriate angle on this.

Actually I take it back I did an impulse buy on some farberware and pillsbury knives at the dollar store to dial my skill down on that sharpmaker recently. Seemed like a good idea, I buy knives I don't care about to practice on and the end result is another sharp knife to use in the kitchen where I generally don't care what I am using as long as it's sharp and gets the job done. The pillsbury knives are finicky at taking a sharp edge it seems but are capable of being sharp but a decent knife would get a little sharper and have a far easier time getting there in my experience. The farberware I haven't gotten around to yet but hopefully will fair better than the pillsbury.

No regrets on those impulse buys, even the cheap knives especially for $5 for 5 knives when you will end up making them sharp and putting them on kitchen duty after your done practicing on them.

I think ALL my knife purchases are impulse buys lol

Except my Swiss Army Knives and multitools.

I didn't know there was any other way to buy a knife. Learn something new every day.
Research a knife for correct pricing and base it on need instead of want. Now, that's a concept I'll have to look into.
