Ever craved a cheap knife ???

I am thinking I need a Rodan, so that is on the list.

Another one I have been seriously eyeing up the CheaperThanDirt Hard use knives. I have heard some good things, and not any negatives.

I do like my moras, but tend to give them away after a time. I like my CS Bushman, but have not abused it enough to know how it really performs. For a long time I carried a Gerber EZ Out, and it served me just fine.

Nothing wrong with a "good" cheap knife. I love my mora's but I love my opinels even more. I just ordered another NO.7 today to replace the one that I gave to a friend. It does not take a two hundred dollar knife to satisfy the needs that one runs upon in the woods. Just lood a what Mors was able to do with a mora!

The Cold Steel Canadian belt knife is pretty good at $13, and the Bushman is nearly unbreakable. The Pocket Bushman needs a big pocket, but it's a winner as well. Very solid.

I'd like to try a Condor Bushlore, when they come in.

I've been wanting to try out and Old Hickory butcher knife. I want to compare my high tech knives to old timey mountain man style. I just hate ordering cheap things off the net. You pay twice as much when you add in shipping.

That is have you ever thought certain cheap knives looked cool and have been tempted to add them to your collections ?

3 that have tempted me,although I have so far resisted the urge, are.....

BlackJack Anaconda......

I've had the Anaconda in my shopping cart more than once, but never went through with it. I'd like to try the Grunt, too, but already have way too many knives.

Stay sharp,

I've wanted to try out a LOT of cheap knives, just for fun. I even want one of the real cheap hollow handles. However, with work the way it is I can't buy one, as I know it won't really be useful for anything.

It usually happens that circumstances prevent me from getting a knife right off the bat. So I have to wait a bit of time. I might have my cheapo knife kind of selected, but by the time I get to ordering it, I get something nicer instead.

Being a Canadian, and not typically having much selection to choose from in stores, most of my knives come from mail order or from makers. If I have to pay $15, $20 for postage, then I might as well pay $100 for a knife. I'm certainly at a point now where I would rather have a $200 knife over 2 x $100 knives and I'd rather have it than having 4 x $50 knives. So while I recognize value, I just don't have any real desire to go out and get myself a mora2000 or something of that ilk.

I'd really like an AG russell deer hunter in D2, and a bird and trout in VG-10. I really wanted a mora after watching what people could do with them, and for under $30, I got two and I love them.

I've been tempted by the new Blackjack Anaconda series.
I have an old made in Japan Blackjack Anaconda II i bought in the early 90's, would love to compare between the old and the new versions.
That Anaconda II is still the most expensive knife i ever bought,$100-$125 U.S dollars, and the exchange rate was very bad back then 65-75 Canadian cents to 1 American dollar. (haven't bought any knife near as expensive since).

Great knife but the handle ergos really suck. Very square wide flat and blocky, great if you have lego hands, lol!

Yup, something like a Case Trapper or Stockman with the CV (carbon steel) blades. I want to make a slippie eventually, but one of these would sratch the itch until then....maybe:D

I have really liked the CRK&T M21. One of my favorites that I just can't have enouhg of is the SAK Farmer.

A $12 Mora is my go to knife whenever I am out working in the yard. It just works good and I don't care what happens to it.

I love my Blackjack Grunt.

+1 for this.

And yes, the "cheap" knife bug has gotten me more then once. I have several Smith and Wesson Bullseye blades, a ton of Mora's, and even a couple of Gerber Profiles, all purchased for under $15 off fleaBay. Have an entire draw full of all sorts of cheap, but usable knives. Mostly I get them for loaner knives, I don't loan out my Gossman's or RC blades. They aren't the greatest thing, but they do work. And I have found, like with the Blackjack Grunt, that every once in a while you get an exceptional good knife for next to nothing.

The Cold Steel Finn Bear is a great knife, with a really really crappy sheath.

$15 should qualify as cheap :)

Cold Steel Knife and Trout- just intrigued w/ the original design (old Marbles design), AUS 6A steel

a really nice backpacking knife at 0.8 oz- especially if your backpacking includes some trout fishing and/or grouse hunting :) even room for a small firesteel
