Ever feel like your'e being watched?

Great photo! Thanks. As soon as the weather warms up, I'll be visiting the Timber Rattlesnake den behind my house. It's time for our springtime Rattlesnake Council meeting! :)

Yeah, Rattler season hear in North Western Connecticut.

I lot of folks around here don’t realize how many we have.

Up on top of the rocky ledges they’ll be basking in the sunlight and soaking up the heat.

Plenty of other snakes too.

I biggest Rattler I ever encountered was in Bear Mtn. State Park (NY) last spring, it was as big around as my wrist.

I love seeing them, from a distance. It's definitely the season to watch your step when your out on the trail.

Pitdog, do you have any poisonous ones in B.C.?

Doc

Oh heck yeah!

About ten years ago my grandfather was bucking up an old hollow log with an old Husky chainsaw...chopped through a hibernating Western Rattler inside, about four inches in diameter!

Especially up in the desert and the arid forests in the interior, we got rattlers!

They are not so common down here on the coast, though. At least in my experience. I have only seen them in the high desert and the dry mountains around Princeton.

oohh. that's a good sized rattler.. we have a lot around here too, though i haven't seen many lately...
