Ever get knifed-out?

I don't know if I'm knifed out but I think maybe I have found the EDC I've always wanted; a SOG X-Ray Vision. It's everything I want in a folder and a gift from my father.

I completely understand what you are going through. I'm currently knifed out with Tactical knives. I have been doing some research on slipjoints, but I don't have a burning desire to go out and buy any. I'm just sort of drifiting between knives. I have less and less time to think about knives and I have other things that demand my attention, so yes I think you can be knifed out. I know I'm getting to that point quickly!

That happened when you were able to use a 705BC1CFHS as an EDC and keep another as a safe/drawer queen. Only a CF Navigator in S30V, VG10, or D2 will unknife you, Senor.

You might be correct but lately I have been carrying a large stockman slipjoint that Pete gave me. I'm starting to like this slipjoint thing! Of course a Navigator in CF is high on my wish list so we'll see what happens.

Totally knifed out. No desire for a new knife.
It's just a matter of time, though:D

I am with yobbos1, I don't think I am knifed out but I have found the perfect EDC for me, a Benchmade 943. I still love to come on the forum and talk about knives but I haven't been in the mood to go buy one lately. Maybe after Christmas when I have some extra money I will get over that.:D

Yes - I have been in that period for a few months. I am guessing that knife fever will return and that being knifed-out is only temporary.

In the meantime, flashlights have become a new hobby;)

I feel the same way, except my sweetheart is a 940BT. I carry other knives, but this one is the one.

I'm off tactical folders (at least until the ParaMilitary comes out).

I have no desire for slipjoints.

But....

I've had a jones for Buck 110s lately.

Also, I've bought quite a few fixed blade folders.

And I'm starting to get interested in straight razors.
I'll get tired of knives after a while, go to something else, and then come back to knives in a few months. It's happened before.

If I could bring myself to USE one of my 705BC1CFHS's I might be knifed out for a while. Until then the search continues.

I have collected 70 to 90 knives and have no desire to purchase more. I have bought new knives, but always go back to my black handled Victorinox Tinker for EDC. It is light in my pocket and will perform a wider variety of jobs that my tactical knives cannot come close to.

A big plus is I do not have to worry too much if I lose it due to its price under $20. :D

I get knifed out, now and then. It usually doesnt last more than a couple of months, or so. Its been that way for 24+++++ years.

I can get knifed out, but that only means I don't have the money to buy more at the moment.

Then the credit cards take over. Like the Bagwell Belle in Damascus I have coming a month to 5 weeks. It's 2200.00 delivered and though the cash wasn't there, the cc's were and I'll not miss out a custom due to lack of funds.

In the last month I've allocated 3500.00 in knives, one, the Bagwell, is left to be delivered.

Thats enough for the moment, I'll probably slow down and sell some of the linerlocks I have put away. They do me no good and I won't carry or buy them again. If that happens I'll have more straights than folders left.

Brownie

After a while one thing can become dull but I just go onto the next thing and come back

for example I get tired of knives every few months, and I go onto looking at flashlights, catching up with whatevers happening with the luxeon stars etc.

That doesnt last long, only a week or so then I go onto body armour

Then maybe Ill do some exercise

then Ill be back to knives...

no one can be interested in the same thing all the time non stop, you have to have some variety.

I had another thought. Sometimes it's not the knives that wear me out, it's the discussion.

At this time, there is a multi-page thread going on (and on, and on, and on) about Bowies, the Vidalia Sandbar lore and the whole concept of duelling. It seems we beat threads like this into the ground about once per month, always stating that we like our knives for tools, but there is always that concept of defense.

That is until someone asks about all of this knife fighting, and no one can report a reliable story. And the romance continues.

Well, lets take the debate to reality. Let's actaully and quantitatively find out what a piece of sharpened steel does to a human being. Let's get it all out there, the slicing of arteries, the mutilation of sinews, the crippling, the loss of loved ones. Let's see who has the best and latest book, let's find a sensei who can really cripple. Let's get some grant money to Crucible.

Perhaps Mr. Bagwell can make a special run of Bowies that let the stain and the smell of blood adhere to the knife so we can enjoy it for decades.

Yeah, I get knifed out.

Now you are being silly. The romance is part of the fun. I can admire a fine military firearm and not have the desire to mow down soldiers. I can admire a fine automobile and not drive it 200 mph down Main Street. Frankly I find talking about one inch nail-cleaning knives as pretty boring.

Tactical stuff and Bowie's, heck yeah!

My purchase, last year, of my Classic Sebenza took me away from wanting any other folders for a while. Now I do have the itch for a Strider AR, however. Sometimes, my collection seems to get a bit repetitive also, so I go thru "hot and cold" stages in my knife interests.
