Ever thought about selling them all?

Hello guys,

From time to time i think about selling all or most of my knives and end with this "disease" once and for all!
You see, i collect knives since i was a kid but stopped for years until i found youtube reviews and these kind of forums.
When i found out that there were lots of knife nuts like me i restarted buying knives but this time "quality" knives of all the brands we are now used to.
However, in my social life, besides the internet, i have no friends nor family that has the bug.
Also, knives are completely useless in my line of work and most of the time i carry a knife just because i like it.
Of course, there are moments when it's needed but those are very rare and the tasks that i need it for hardly requires an XM-18:D
So i sometimes think about selling them all or just keep one or two:)
When i think about selling i think what i could buy with the money and quite frankly the things that come up to my mind are stuff that i really couldn't care much, like clothes or stuff like that.
I could use it also to pay the bills of course but i'm fortunate enough not to really need the money for that kind of stuff.

I really don't know what responses i'm trying to get here but have you guys ever thought of it?

I'm going thru one of those cycles right now and the few knives that I've held on to are perfect for my needs/wants at the moment, although I'm sure that I'll hear the calling again soon since I just put in an order for a custom with Alan Davis. :D

I hear you. :D

I am going to put a bunch of mine up for sale soon to thin things out. ;)

Thinning my collection is exactly what I've done, in the past few weeks, and the bad part is that I'll probably go out and buy the same ones again in the future. The cycle never ends, I guess....Lol. Of course, not having a nagging wife anymore and my son coming of age and going out on his own helps me have that extra money for new toys in the future. :D :D

Have to snap some current photos soon so I can put them up. :)

Everytime a bill come sup I was't expecting, :D, but also when I think about the money in general, got a knife recently which is really making the others it at home and that makes me think about it as well, then again I sold all but about 6 off a year ago and it's grown back again..guess I second about everything thats been said here, :)

I'd like to sell off a bunch of mine. In fact, I've asked more than one mod how I can upgrade my membership in order to be able to sell knives in The Knife Exchange, but no one's responded to my inquiries.

Might be time to consider carrying smaller knives. I EDC a Case peanut (with a Victorinox Rambler on my keychain) and get by just fine.

Errr, i'm no mod or expert but you can click on "settings" at the top left of any page, then on th left under "settings and towards the middle of the page there is a "paid subscription" option, click there, select your membership and click order.

.. or follow link given above, just saw that, much better

I was thinking the same thing right before I saw this thread. I'm also going to have to upgrade to Gold so I can put some of my knives up for sale...but the cash would probably just go to other knives...lol.

I also think of the same thing, and so then I start to thin them down, and I get to the last dozen or so, and just cannot seem to go any further. Then different ones start creeping in, and the quantity starts to build back up. It is a sickness, but we must love it. :O)

I do, then I think, they're scratched up and I wouldn't make very much, so I keep using 'em, hoping to find someone who's selling users for a good price.

I have considered many times selling off most of my arsenal, but have never been so compelled as to actually pull the trigger. I have a box of Busses, Beckers and others, for example, that I probably haven't even looked in for 2 years. Dozens of MTs and traditionals that never get touched. So yeah, thinning the herd has crossed my mind.

I went through the same thing, Sold almost every knife I owned except for the select few that survived for reason A or B, But being the tinkerer that I am I have a bad habit of buying old worn down knives and trying to restore them. This seems to be the only reason I buy knives now, well except for the misc. impulse buy :p

Seeling them all? Hell no. But, I have brought my collection down from about 50 to between 5-10. Only users get to stay.

I have scaled back many times only to see the herd return to its' former size. Overall, though, I do keep fewer knives around than I used to. The ones I have are of higher quality but it does'nt stop me from using them.

sold about 75% of my blades last year as most of them were mostly not being used. One year later, I have purchased 75% more blades :)
