Do you carry every day for a bit of self defense? What is your every day personal protection knife?

bac18mke,
Welcome to bladeforums.
My Benchmade 710D2 is my edc'er for everything from cutting a sandwich to personal protection.

Shawn

I carry a variety of knives, but I don't depend on them for defense.

I suffer attacks from many rabid envelopes, the occaisional leprosy ridden, zombified sandwich, and terrorist packing tape.

I edc one from a long list of the accumulated sharp and pointy objects...too many to list

SD knife carry is a false sense of security. It is a license for the other person to do whatever it takes to disable you. Under any circumstances, if someone pulled a knife on me, I would break their arms and wipe the floor with them.

Sometimes a person will not pull the knife out for you to see. They may just be very quick with it, without you knowing, seeing or being aware of it, until it is to late. They will keep their body between your eyes and the knife. The person being attacked is surely never going to let you see them take their knife out, the attacker would only know about it when it is to late.

Never underestimate your oponent;)

Welcome to the forums! My knives are used as cutting tools first and as a weapon dead last:eek:. The most modern EDC on me right now is a Spyderco D2 Para Military.

I edc either a Benchmade Kulgera or a spyderco paramilitary or mini-manix, but I just use them as everyday cutting tools and would only use them as last ditch self defense weapons in a life or death situation. This is probably the main answer you will get from people on this forum. If you want an advantage in self defense get training (both hand to hand and with a gun) and a ccw and gun if your area allows.

I have a carry permit but sometimes you can not carry a firearm. I do not care what anybody says any knife is better than nothing.

I carry any of several. For folders I carry a BM740 Dejavoo or/and a Harsey T3 ranger. Often I carry a fixed blade with a 5 inch blade.
SD don't let anyone fool you, with training a knife can be deadlier than a gun anyday. My service in the Marine Corps provided me ample time to prove that point. If you are going to carry defensively then get some training and keep up on practice in order to maintain your effectiveness.

Welcome to the forums

Don't worry what some people say, you want to be prepared and there's nothing wrong with that. For self defense (SD around here) you are going to want any knife that you feel comfortable with. Always remember that it is a tool first and foremost. I would recommend Emerson Knives due to the emerson wave opener. This allows the blade to open as soon as it's pulled out of your pocket. Emersons are great work knives that seem to play a dual role very well. Good luck shopping, J.
