I just read the story of Varulv and his HG55 and got me to thinking. If that was me, I know I wouldn't have any of my 22+ busse on me if I came on an accident. The easiest knife I would have on my is my spyderco which is in the front of my backpack or my crkt kiss that I use for my money clip.
All of my busse are home where they are safe. But they are strong and ment to be used right? So what good does that do me if I need one and don't have it. I don't really want to leave one in my car, cause what if my car gets stolen or broken into. Also to have on me all the time, it's a bit bigger then what I would want on me at all times.
Not trying to imply that we need a busse folder or anything (even thought I think we should) but what does everyone carry on them, weather it be a busse or not. I guess I think folders are easier but then again I don't think I like to carry or use anything really high end either...
What's everyone else think or do?

I carry a Superknife 2, Leatherman Wave and a Game Warden daily. If I didn't work for a school district I would probably EDC something bigger. Like a SAR 4 (if I can ever afford one).

I keep a Gerber LMF ASEK II in-between the seats. It is my stay in truck knife, strickly for emergencies while on the road. Not a knife that I would worry about if lost.:D

Although it's not an EDC, if I were to encounter an accident that required chopping, cutting, or prying, this BATAC would serve such duty:

Oh, and I keep Cold Steel knives and an Estwing axe in the trucks. My INFI only goes with my person.

I always have my muddy active duty available either
on my side or in a jacket or bag if need be!
It is my favorite EDC.
And I think it to could take a real beating if needed.

yeah, i don't carry a Busse on me and wouldn't be comfortable leaving it in the car either. i only carry a folder

In my opinion - you can always buy a replacement knife, but no amount of money is going to get you a good knife when you need one right away and don't have it. I'd rather take the risk of a knife, even an expensive one, getting stolen or lost, than not have one available.

That said, I've got a couple of cheaper big knives and THOSE are usually the ones that are kept in the car. If I manage to break or lose them all, then I'll start keeping something pricier in there, rather than replacing them with something cheap again. I usually have at least a big bowie in the trunk, and one or two other random fixed blades laying around the car somewhere, and then whatever folder(s) are in my backpack/pocket.

I carry a zt and a bunch of differant spyderco folders that I rotate through, my SARS le is my smallest Busse......not a bad idea to carry my NMSFNO in the car....you never know when it might come in handy. I have been meaning to put a nice bug out type bag together, I think I will put it on my to do list for this week.

I carry this, every day:

edited: thankfully, I live in a state wherein I can carry any sized fixed blade I want. As soon as I get another iwb sheath or two, I'm going to try out my M9 LE, and my NMSFNO as edc knives. So far, the SJTACs are a pleasure.

I have a couple of "truck knives". One is a smallish ~4" blade knife and the other is a bigger knife. One is out of sight and one is not. So far my car has not been broken into. I'll be pretty upset if it happens but I like to have these things with me.

A folder is on me always...my Metro Razor.
When I do EDC a Busse, it's my Cultellus.

If we're thinking about the traffic accident scenario, is there any reason why we can't keep a prybar in the trunk? I have one, and a large, heavy axe, among other things. No chance in hell I'm going to be taking a knife to pry doors when I have an axe and a prybar in the trunk. ;) And those things are cheap. And if someone does break into the car, that's what the insurance is for, right?

I don't typically EDC a Busse - most of the time it's a puukko for me. But sometimes I carry a Game Warden. Carrying larger knives would be possible, but I don't see much need to do so. Out in the woods I can of course carry as large as I want, and that's where the large knives come in more handy than in urban environments. Folders? Nah, too weak, too uncomfortable, and too much trouble to clean up after use (few things are as boring as cleaning the hair and blood off a folder after working on game).

In the car, always:

Collapsing shovel
18" wrecking bar
6" cheapish (i.e. cheaper than a Busse!) cutting tool (note that we aren't generally allowed to carry fixed blade knives in England, even in our cars, so this is a cutting tool, not a knife!)
Small selection of tools, mainly for the car
Fire extinguisher
Waterproof jacket and overtrousers
Mylar reflective survival bags

If I were legally allowed to carry a knife, perhaps in my big laptop/computer-geek tool bag that's always with me when I'm working, it might be my HOG ASH-1 because it's the stoutest and toughest knife I have. Well worth the weight in the toolbag. Perfect for those little emergencies where you need to lever open a door or baton through a hinge or wall. If I were allowed to, of course. This is purely theoretical ;)

Plus I always have a Victorinox Farmer in my pocket.

I keep a ZT NO-E in my car. Right now there is a SAR4 and a Battle Rat in there also.

I keep a SR M6, a Stanley FUBAR, several folders, a jacket, first aid kit, flashlight, and a "Ford Wrench" (4 pound sledgehammer) in the truck. Need to add an e-tool.

There's a Crash Axe in my truck at all times. Otherwise, what it would take is too big for a business-person to carry daily.

Maybe if I carried my briefcase around everywhere I could stuff a Squatch in there or something.

I might get one of those Russian Army surplus Titanium pry bars and throw it in the truck.

See you also have to keep in mind if you put it in the trunk, what if you are the one in the accident and you can't get out to get to it, that would suck even more right? What would happen if you got pulled over with and the cops found this in the front of the car/truck? And I don't know what kind of insurance you have but I don't think my insurance would cover it if I said it was stolen. Busse aren't that easy to come by, some models are harder to obtain then others...
