Everyday carry?

It is the old saying about carrying a gun. I would rather carry my whole life and never need it than to really need it and not have it. That is why I EDC a big fixed blade either on me or on a small pack that is always with me in my car or truck. same with a gun

I carry an Emerson CQC-8 folder on me at all times. I also edc an AD on duty. I carry the SAR4 in my carry bag and on me when not carrying the AD. I also keep a Comp Sarsquatch in my truck at all times.

wow, some of you are just hoping to come on an accidet so you can use your knives eh? LOL

Honestly, an accident is probably the last place I'd expect to use my knives. I'd be far more likely to have a need for a big knife if I'm driving out in some remote middle of nowhere highway and my POS car breaks down, out of cell phone range and I'm forced to wait for someone to find me.

Not much of an issue anymore now that I live in the south, but I remember the stories of folks getting lost in blizzards, stranded for days on end. Having the ability to build a fire and melt snow for water, along with the obvious need for heat, could have made the difference in a few folks' lives who never made it back from a long drive.

A big knife is just a valuable tool, and while I doubt I'll ever be in a situation where I *NEED* it to survive, I'd rather have it handy just in case. The hero fantasy of pulling someone out of a car is far less of a motivator than the simple utility of the blade as a tool in any situation - from a downed tree blocking the road, to a desperate fight against hypothermia.

I rotate dependent on my dress and/or the occasion which knife I have on my body: Emerson mini CQC-7, Rat Cutlery Izula, Muddy Active Duty or Game Warden.

I always have a SAK Farmer in my pocket for the times when pulling out a fixed blade isnt the best decision.

Regardless of whats on my body, living in NYC, whenever I go anywhere my EDC bag comes with me (a Kifaru E&E or an Orvis briefcase) - in there will always be my Muddy Active Duty (if its not on me) or if its on me, my Rat Cutlery RC-3.

Had my bag checked a few times in random subway screenings and the MAD or RC-3 has never been an issue.

Carrying in NYC is a bit weird - the laws are such that I am much better off carrying a sub 3.5" fixed blade (concealed) rather than a locking folder as the laws are clear as day on fixed blades but ridiculously ambiguous on folders (on purpose I'm sure).

Regardless, by law, whatever I carry must be 100% concealed - I cant even keep my Emerson clipped to the inside of my pants pocket bc LEO specifically look for the clip - been stopped before for a clip showing but it was my EDC flashlight ;)

When I'm at our place in the Catskills, depending on my mood, I either EDC on my belt my MAD, GW, or RC-3 - still with my SAK in my pocket.

My NMFBM is tucked under my seat, Spydie Millie in my pocket, and AK under the back seat for the yardwork :D

I usually EDC folders.

I have been rotating between my Strider SMF, Ritter Grip, and ZT 0301 for a while now.

In the woods, it is a slew of Bussekin.... I can never just take one.

the only one in this class (compact 9.5" oal choiless):

thats on my right hip, my leatherman charge w/full bit kit in my left pocket, and I generally have a box cutter on me. whenever anyone asks for a knife (not box cutter) I hand them the serrated blade on the leatherman. carbon single gaurd mora for construction (I hate everything about the knife, so it's good for shingles etc)

I may switch to something else from busse when I get it that would not be well suited for prying, but at the moment the customized sar5 would do just fine with it (high saber 3/16")

EDC is a McGizmo LunaSol 20, a 3.5" XM-18, and a Customized Glock 19. Used to EDC my GW, but if I have to choose between a gun or FB on my hip, I'm choosing the gun every time.

In the console of my car I have an SOG trident (for seatbelt duty), but I like Guyon's idea about the D'Allara. I also like the idea of a prybar for the trunk. In my MaxP, I carry a Leatherman Charge and my GW.

Hey Rolf, if you get a lead on one of those Russion Ti Prybars, hook a brother up.

I carried a folder for the last 18 years, but ever since I found RAT cutlery I only carry a fixed blade. Their RC4, RC3, RC3MIL, and Izula are some of the best fixed blades I have ever owned, not to mention EDC. They also have a 100% no questions asked warrantee. Give 'em a try! I think any Busse guy would appreciate their quality.

98% of my Busses are big ol hogs except the SAR5 I just got in trade (thx Dan), and that will get worked into the rotation. And I am sure I will rotate a TB in there at some point.

With the right sheath a guy with enoungh height can carry a full sized fighter. A Bagwell Bowie for example...

CRKT My Tighe. Brian Tighe is one of the greatest custom knifemakers out there. Fixed blade is just not practical for edc.

My Busses stay at home or go with me on camping trips....my edc is any number of folders, usually a (nothing fancy here) Benchmade or Spyderco. Often, I get old school and carry a Buck I've had for 20+ years. no idea what the model is, it was a gift from my father.

I edc large Cold Steel folders, but I've been looking at good IWB sheats, that will enable me to carry my SAR4. I've been carrying a very fat GW on my belt in a Kydex sheath and it's quite comfortable and inconspicuous, but I want a larger blade. Selfdefense comes into the equation as well.
So yeah, I would not think twice about taking my prospective Key Lardo Blvd with me wherever I go. :D

I carry a 1911 ED, and a backup 9mm. Why wouldn't I carry a knife that can function in every way I want it to? Right now I either carry a large CS voyager or a Benchmade LFK. Sometimes a CRKT m16 goes in my back pocket as well. They both are used heavily. When I get my NMSFNO, believe it or not it's going to be an EDC blade and replace the larger folder and just use the CRKT for a smaller utility blade. I see absolutely no point in owning 100 400+ dollar knives known for their durability and never using them. I would just frame a picture of one before I let something like that sit at home.

I hear ya. All of my present Busses are users. Only knives at all that sit in my safe are my balisongs, which are collectors (minus a Morpho I carry from time to time, and my BM42) and one XM-18, which is sitting in one of Bill's Custom cases along with an extra LunaSol 20 next to an extra Glock 19 just in case I lose or break one in my carry rotation.

My brother GentleBen taught me about redundancy, and I thought he was crazy. ;) :D

Here's the deal: P Mil D2, and a Cultellus. Sometimes I carry my Leu kwaiken.
Jason---Cheaper Than Dirt, carries the Russian Titanium Pry Bar. If not, Goggle it and it will come up. The Ti Cat Paw from Stilleto Tools is also a good vehicle tool!

I always have a folder on me(except when in bed), a CRK or Spyderco. My Sean O'Hare River knife is attached to my maxibag and is with me every time I leave the house.

Also have a Leatherman in the bag, and my Glock 23 in the console.

If I do carry one on the belt its a Cultie. Sometimes an AD.
