Everyone likes a little Biscuit - a GAW *Winner Chosen*

I would like to nominate Misplaced Hillbilly, comes across as a hard working straight shooter, no bull dust, what you see is what you get. Very friendly, but is prepared to speak his mind without being rude or derogatory. Just a good bloke as we say over here, and uses all his knives, you gotta love a bloke who uses his tools for what they were made for. ;)🤪

So many have been named, and deservedly so, there are many great members here.
I'm going to mention two members that I think bring a lot of enjoyment and inclusiveness to the forum.
The Kings of the multi-quotes... 5K Qs 5K Qs GT... and mitch4ging mitch4ging Dennis. These guys spend a lot of time making contacts with as many members as possible.
Who doesn't like to be included in one of these gentlemen's multi-quotes, it just makes you feel like you belong here. If picked, please send the knife to Dennis, I know he'd cherish it.

A beautiful "Glenn Modded" knife of mine

Everyone mentioned is a plus to our board here… I’m quite new, yet everyone mentioned makes feel at home. All the old knives guys being a wealth of information with Gawgeous pics and examples, and basically everyone on the porch with the same. JohnDF JohnDF John’s GAW was a recent blast!!
Our Mods are Kool and welcoming with a bunch of behind the scenes work we don’t always get to see, yet always feel!!
Awesome thread start Glenn, as you’re highly valued yourself
Not an entry because I can’t pic a fave lol…
I really do lurve every knaf-head here!!

That's a special knife Glenn, and it's very kind of you to do this thoughtful giveaway. I always really enjoy seeing the knives you've worked on, and admire your skill :)

I am blushing somewhat, but also very touched by the words some of my friends here have posted :) As we all know, The Porch is such a great place, and I'm sure many of us spend more time interacting with folks here, than we do with people on the streets where we live. Carl J jackknife was the first, I think, many years ago, to liken this place to a family, and it truly is. I have made many great friendships here, and when one of us passes, or even has to drop out for some reason, the loss is no less than it would be if it were a family member, I don't think. I still miss friends who stopped posting years ago, such as pmew pmew , Old & In The Way Old & In The Way , and pertinux pertinux , and Blues Blues , who still calls in now and again, and like many others, I certainly miss Ron Half/Stop Half/Stop , who was taken from us last year :(

As others have done, I want to thank our two great mods Frank knarfeng knarfeng and Gary Peregrin Peregrin , who work tirelessly to keep The Porch the friendly, welcoming place it is. Gary is a particular friend, and I am always grateful for our exchanges, and for his kindness and assistance :)

I hadn't been posting here long when I palled-up with two great guys, who really went out of their way to make me feel at home, and have been kind and generous in an incredible way. That is Duncan Campbellclanman Campbellclanman and Charlie waynorth waynorth , two solid friends I think about almost every day. I have been lucky enough to spend a couple of days with Duncan, and anyone who has met him will tell you what a sweet guy he is. So far, I have only spoken to Charlie on the phone, but meeting up with him would be a dream come true for me. It was great just to have Duncan visit him! :D And paulhilborn paulhilborn , another great friend and brother! :)

I share a love of historic Sheffield patterns with my pal H herder , and a great deal besides. We spent a few days together in England, and he was hoping to visit again this year, before Covid got in the way. We correspond regularly, and have written a few articles together. I'm lucky to have H herder to encourage me, as I have got lazier over the past few years. He's a true friend :)

Barrett btb01 btb01 made an incredible effort to meet up with me in Sheffield a few years back, and we had a great day together. He really is as nice a guy, in person, as he is here on the boards :) I sure hope we can meet up again some day

I have never met Greg WhittlinAway WhittlinAway in person, but he is another good friend, who I have many things in common with, apart from knives, such as our shared love of the great outdoors. You know you are good pals when you pop in and out of each others dreams! :D

Cambertree Cambertree is another great pal who I have spent some time with. Chin is smart beyond his years, and a real pleasure to be with. I hope he'll start posting regularly again soon, as I do Stuart D Duckdog Gevonovich Gevonovich , and Duane sitflyer sitflyer , among others.

Pàdruig Pàdruig , I'd give a lot to sit on your back porch with you for an evening, and talk ourselves so hoarse, we had to get another bottle of whisky out! :) Drinks are on me if you ever make it over buddy

r8shell r8shell is another good friend, with a great sense of humour, and I've received many super thoughtful packages from Texas :)

Reaper AL Reaper AL has a great family and a big heart, and I owe him a PM :)

donn donn , my fellow Northerner, thanks for your friendship, and for all those pie photos! :D ;)

meako meako , every family's got one! 😜 Cheers Jon :)

JohnDF JohnDF , another great friend, and great family man, with great taste in knives ;)

We have a fantastic bunch of folks who post regularly in the Guardians thread, and I am lucky to have them as friends, even the ones who don't post very often, are always thought about, and it's always great when they return, like mitch4ging mitch4ging or Fodderwing Fodderwing , flatblackcapo flatblackcapo , or Cory Hess Cory Hess recently. Some, like gunstockjack gunstockjack , screened porch screened porch , or kamagong kamagong , I was pals with before that thread was even thought of :)

There are so many more folks I could mention, and some whose handles I'm currently struggling to think of, because like most folks here, I think of them by their names, rather than by their forum name, such as Mark (fill this in later - Edit - Ramrodmb Ramrodmb ! :D) , Vince (Edit - Prester John Prester John !) or Gary (GT - Edit 5K Qs 5K Qs ) :D I hope anyone won't be offended, and put it down to my failing grey matter, rather than my failure as a friend. I'm grateful to all of you

Sorry Glenn, I have got completely carried away, I hope you'll excuse me. I don't enter many giveaways, but I'd like to enter this one if I may, and if I get lucky, I'll gladly stump up for the postage. Thanks again for a great giveaway

One more thing, there's a giveaway currently going in the Guardians thread, to remember our pal Ron Half/Stop Half/Stop . The link is in my sig line

Not an entry,

But I just want to say that there are far too many names to list on who I think are the greatest folks on this forum. The generosity, and sheer open family feeling here is almost beyond description. It certainly is rare on Internet forums these days. Even with my much diminished love of material objects, I still stop by here to see what the people I love are up to.

I don't know how may years I have left on this earth, (being an ancient old fart) but I can say wth all honesty, that I have never know this many people in one place, with huge varying nationalities and backgrounds, that show the love of one another that is amazing.

I love all you folks on the porch, and would adapt all of you as my extended grandkids in a heart beat.

So there, thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

Not an entry for myself, but I would like the knife to go to Jack Black Jack Black if chosen.
Thank you for fantastic GAW.
There are too many amazing people on here for me to single out a one individual, or even group of individuals. Some much knowledge & good experiences have come from the Porch here. Much thanks & respects to all.
Thanks also to our Mods for all their hard work behind the scenes.

Thanks Carl, I'd love that, but after seeing his baking, I'm waiting on my adoption application to go to live with CelloDan CelloDan and his family :D ;)

Thank you very much Tim, that's a really kind thought :)

The application has been approved  by all the many layers of Canadian bureaucracy , the only condition they stipulate is that you must bring ALL of your knives with you :cool::)

Great news Dad! :D I may have to hire porters! :D ;)

I can't in good conscience enter this GAW, even though I would dearly love to get my hands on a knife modded by BigBiscuit BigBiscuit . I miss his smiling Avatar all the time. But I feel like I have won a knife at least 50% of the time I have entered one of your GAWs glennbad glennbad . Three of my favorite knives are examples of your generosity, so I need to make sure other folks are the beneficiaries.

So obviously I miss Bob, and I certainly appreciate you Glenn. I'll try to add some photos later, but for now, a very incomplete list of folks who make this place special for me.

waynorth waynorth , Charlie has not only been a face I look forward to seeing at the OKCA show, and someone who has gifted me with lovely knives, and someone who has gifted my daughter with lovely knives, and he has also been the architect of some of my favorite knives with his repeated leadership through the forum knife process, but the thing I appreciate most is specifically the 2015 forum knife. That Canal Street knife was my first forum knife, and it remains my most perfect traditional, and is in my pocket almost every day.

gunstockjack gunstockjack , is another man I appreciate for all those same reasons as Charlie. Thank you for the 2015 knife! And I look forward to seeing you at the next OKCA show.

And I also look forward to seeing knowtracks knowtracks next time we get to gather in Eugene.

Jack Black Jack Black of course. The 2019 Lambsfoot is one of the few knives that shifts my 2015 Canal Street, and in fact the Lambsfoot is in my pocket today.

meako meako brings a great deal of joy and humour to this corner of the net.

And I want to mention Jolipapa Jolipapa whose posts and knowledge of French cutlery are always a high point for me.

I could go on. There are many who I should thank, but for now, this is enough.

Well expressed, and i second Denis, he is a ripper.

I've enjoyed correspondence with many good folks here over the years, some of whom lead lives very different to my own :) Perhaps none more so than Horsewright Horsewright , who taught me more about cowboying than I will ever need to know, and far more than my bow-legged granddad ever did ;) Thanks Dave, hope you're doing well buddy

I am in because a knife modded by Biscuit would be an incredible memento to a great member! In my years here I have had so many positive interactions my list would include most everyone here, but that is not the spirit of this GAW. So, if I was to distill it down to a single member I would go with Jack Black. I am a huge fan of Sheffield cutlery and his stories and pictures give me even more to chase after!

I have had a ton of amazing "run in's" with members here. Two that will always stick out and made a huge impression on me and how and why I have stuck around here for a bit was two acts of kindness. One from a member who is gone but will never be forgotten. The other from an active member and someone who has made a gigantic impact on this forum.

The first act was when a member reached out to me after I had posted about losing my 2017 Forum knife. I lost the knife while coaching football. And stupid me for having the knife in athletic shorts and coaching none the less. (I don't do that anymore.) That member quickly sent me a DM and sent me a brand new one. That member was no other than Bob aka BigBiscuit. I treasure that knife like no other. He told me to use it, keep it sharp and to pass it down to my son. Which I plan on doing. I still have all of his DMs and I won't delete them.

The second act was a very amazing giveaway by Jack Black. I was sent an amazing package and it made me fall in love with the Lambsfoot shaped knife. He has done the same for more members and has made an enormous impact here on the porch. What a great embassador to the traditional knife sub forum that is the porch! Thanks for everything Jack!

Thanks for the opportunity to own this great knife!

I would like to nominate EngrSorenson EngrSorenson Jiki Jiki E Elgatodeacero meako meako & Modoc ED Modoc ED as these gents always provide me with a good laugh. I would also like to nominate waynorth waynorth Old Engineer Old Engineer & Jack Black Jack Black for their seemingly endless knowledge of fine cutlery. Another nom for JohnDF JohnDF as his generosity seems to know no bounds - those slips he has been gifting are amazing and it seems like he is putting in so much work to make people happy. Last but not least tmd_87 tmd_87 - the patina master!! I am definitely missing too many people but its folks like those I mentioned that really make this place feel like the porch to me.

Count me in!

Thanks for the nomination M mcc850 , and I'm glad you did- some how I missed this really cool GAW.
(now if you could just tell Mrs. EngrSorenson that I'm funny, I'd really appreciate it 😅 )

I'd be remiss if I didn't pass up some names of some folks who've made this place a little cheerier. This is by no means exhaustive, but it'd take me a week to recollect everyone who makes this place enjoyable.
JohnDF JohnDF is a contributor I've always found to be exceptionally pleasant to joke around with and I always look forward to reading his posts.
CelloDan CelloDan is friendly and nice to a fault, like a Mister Rodgers character, to the point where sometimes I start to think he's actually a computer algorithm designed by MIT to represent the ideal forum poster.
Jiki Jiki is a great example of someone I don't see eye-to-eye with all the time, but knows how to be a stand up fellow and doesn't let that come between us or the love of our hobby.
r8shell r8shell is a friendly voice of reason and aesthetics , Grammar Police Officer Extraordinaire, and I enjoy the fact that she seems ageless in her wisdom and awareness. Is she 20? is she 80? Who could guess?
waynorth waynorth is a treasure for the forums for all of the obvious reasons, mostly centered around his knowledge, kindness and volunteerism, and he reminds me very much of some of the outstanding older gentlemen in my life who were influential on me.
Everyone knows that Moderators contribute significantly to the culture of any forum, and I think Peregrin Peregrin and knarfeng knarfeng are excellent in that capacity as well as excellent contributors.

This place (the porch) is such an amazing place with so many great people i couldn't name them all. A few that come to mind for me are J jackknife for all the wonderful stories , i have read amd re-read most of them if not all of them. Horsewright Horsewright for all the great leather working tutorials and photos. I have learned so much from him. Gary W. Graley Gary W. Graley for leather working tutorials. Jack Black Jack Black for his enthusiasm and love for the lambsfoot and his daily connection with so many in the guardians thread. And meako meako For being so good natured and bringing some humor to some sometimes tense discussions (forum knife related) i truly wish i could crack a cold one or have a coffee with so many of you guys! I will pass on the GAW i want someone that had a more personal connection with bob to get the knife. Great gaw and good luck.
