Everyone likes a little Biscuit - a GAW *Winner Chosen*

Thanks for the input so far everyone. This has gone like I hoped it would. So often, we do things and don't really think that much about it, so some of the people mentioned here may not know how much of an impact they have on others with their involvement in the forum. Just like Bob, who was with us to the end, who continued to help others even as he was dealing with his health and personal issues. That's the best part of this community!

I'm going to let this go for a bit longer, so don't be shy about calling out those who have helped the Porch continue be the great place it is.

One member I don't think has been mentioned yet is Eric ea42 ea42
His knowledge of cutlery and his contributions to the discussions here are invaluable.
Eric is yet another person I need to thank for my all time favorite traditional knife.

Not an entry as I have a knife modded by BigBiscuit BigBiscuit as well as quite a few knives to remember him by. A lot of the folks I'd nominate have already been mentioned. You're all aces in my book. Even in my sometimes misguided appreciation for traditional knives, you all inspire me to look at more and continue to learn. Barlows for example is a baby step away from the end caps for me. Love em end caps tho. Thank you for the opportunity.

This is not an entry Glen. I didn’t know Bob and that knife should go to some one that did. I just wanted to throw in my two-cents. Since this isn’t an entry, I might go overboard. 😄

Since this is glennbad glennbad GAW I’ll start by mentioning him for performing CPR on my 86 Tortoise, also known as a blade delete. 😉
JohnDF JohnDF for his generosity and friendship.😊👍
Jack Black Jack Black for his wisdom and his willingness to share it with anyone. 🦉
5K Qs 5K Qs for his encouraging comments. 👍
Old Engineer Old Engineer for the introduction to the expensive TEW habit. 😆
Modoc ED Modoc ED for doubling my lambsfoot collection and the Wagon Wheel stories. 😋
CelloDan CelloDan for being who I want to be when I grow up. 😂

And all the other people I hope to get to know better as time goes on. 👍
Todd

That’s a really cool knife, glennbad glennbad thanks for sharing. I think we all miss Bigbiscuit.

I have told many times of the act of generosity that Jsega51 Jsega51 gave me the 48 improved trapper back in 2016. When he found out my house flooded, he returned payment of the knife I had purchased and wouldn’t take the knife back. “You need that 100$ (whatever it was) more than I do”. He never accepted payment even after I got straight. That knife is earmarked for my son now, who I found out was coming just a day before my house flooded. That act of generosity helped me through a tough time. And a gained a good friend.

You know, glennbad glennbad , you’re one who’ve done a good one for me also. Turning that 82 Dixie into a square end. And the price you charged for that little oddity that I love pol

I’d also like to throw one out for Randy Redden. He’s gave me a couple knives, including a GEC paring knife that I use the snot out of.

And, another one for Railsplitter Railsplitter . He gifted me a really nice knife once that I still haven’t forgotten. And still use quite often.

Im sure I’ve forgotten a few and for those, I’m sorry for not mentioning here but, rest assured, every time I pick up what you’ve done for me, I remember you fondly.

To do the justice that this thread deserves, my post will take time. I will post this weekend at some point. Pictures must be taken. So many to appreciate, I cannot post a 30 second response. Awesome thread.

Typical John generosity! Thank you for your thoughtfulness, mi hombre!!🤠👍
Well expressed, and i second Denis, he is a ripper.
And the same with the always kindly Leon! Thank you my friend!

As so many have already posted, the list of people here that i would like to mention is long. But since my memory is short, I'll try to get a few that come to mind. Though I've never had any interaction with our host glennbad glennbad , his generosity and craftsmanship is legendary! I only had a couple of replies with Bob BigBiscuit BigBiscuit , but it was encouraging that he was so dynamic dispite being so ill!
r8shell r8shell and AntDog AntDog were some of the first to great me at the door. Dave dc50 dc50 is a great guy to make you feel welcome, and I hope he pops in soon. Then of course Charlie waynorth waynorth should have a cape on, a real superman! Leon cudgee cudgee can be counted on to always bring in some levity to the conversation! I just recently got to know Jeff Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund who is a real encouraging guy! Also just got acquainted with Todd bigfish64 bigfish64 and WhittlinAway WhittlinAway who are a wealth of outdoors information and always quick to share. GT 5K Qs 5K Qs for his always lively replys to everyone posts! Then there is Jack Jack Black Jack Black , a one of a kind, dynamic force that single handedly brought the Lambsfoot pattern to our attention, and his comments always reflect the knowledge and experience of a lifetime of adventures!
Then John JohnDF JohnDF Who is always quick whitted and quick with a kind word. His generosity and friendship is a real treat to see in action! He has been so generous with his time, materials and his GAW's, he is inspiring. I wish I had a special knife to give to each and every one, thanks for your friendship!

If I happen to win, please give this incredible gift to John JohnDF JohnDF .....that will teach him!!🤠👍

The long list of stout blade friends here above is cheerful testament to the warmth and camaraderie of the PORCH - a rare place indeed on the world wide web. Me? I visit but mostly am resting nearby on the hammock on the grass, listening and learning and laughing with you all, with an occasional shout out from my perch to share my 2¢. Still, there are some of you who make me sit up and listen more often. Each has already had a hat full of nominations so I will select a few others.

In no particular order of preference (who can make those distinctions) I nominate Gary W. Graley Gary W. Graley - G2 is a gentleman and an wit, a great knife packer and shopper/seller/photographer AND he is generous too. Next my friend from across the sea Âchillepattada Âchillepattada - JM is always willing to help, explain and teach and always willing to share some photos of the most amazing traditional knives from his part of the world - all the while having a passion for folder of traditions more familiar to most of us. He is a world class knife enabler! ;) Then our Northern Mate from the far south who drinks mate CelloDan CelloDan . Dan shares wonderful nature photos - all with knife content - and has introduced us with great pleasure to his lovely and adventuresome family. He is living a full life - we are the better for that he shares with us. It is a great pleasure to have these people in my life - even if only - mostly - virtually. :)

Here are a few traditionals from Sardinia - with the help of my friend  ~

Thank you glennbad glennbad for this generous GAW - your reasoning and your knife are beauties.

I had big plans to do a pictorial here, but life has gotten in the way. You have to make hay when the sun shines and that's what I worked in this weekend. Cutting hay, lol.
Here is a link to the memorial thread

https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/in-memoriam-give-away-our-porch-members.1792057/

and everything I stated holds ture for this thread, but I have some thank you and additions.

black mamba black mamba for giving my youngest the opportunity to own his birth knife, the yellow rose cattle baron

@? (The member who's avatar use to be two big mammoth tusks) he gave my oldest the opportunity to own his birth knife, the chocolate jigged bone 53 stock knife from 2010.

Sabercat Sabercat for his porch friendship and kind gestures.

KBA KBA , Brett Anderson, who no longer participates, I miss our discussions and his praise of the rare corset shield, single blade, drop point 73 pattern.

Of course the efforts put forth by our annual BF knife coordinators and outgoing participants. Some draw, some call, some mail, some front money, and some do all this. Your effort does not go unnoticed.

Thanks to @glennbfor helping me with my 23 recover. It has been with me on every hunt since..

I'm sure I've missed some, please forgive me.

Take care all,
Josh

I had a similar idea Josh, but have had a lot of work on this past week :) I'll post a few pics I have on file, most of which aren't mine, but which I saved at the time :)
