Everyone sound off on your handles

I actually prefer the Grivory to the Micarta, much more "Becker-like"....

Micarta does offer better grip, and with your propensity for cutting yourself, that might not be a bad thing...

Personally, I don't really care one way or another. They're all nice. I tend to put on wood for aesthetics though, or a nice G10.

I prefer the stock grivory handle scales. I like micarta and wood scales are beautiful but Ethan designed the perfect handles and I like to keep at least that part I'm tact. I'd like to experiment with customizing them though I'm too afraid I'd hate it and be wishing for the slick handles I know and love.

Bearded, the tommythewho handles are exactly as ethan designed them, just made of wood instead of grivory

I abrasive blasted the handles on my BK-7 and it was a pretty nice improvement on grip, but still looks professional.

I would have too say I like micarta on my beckers next would be good ole wood!!!!

I like the Micarta on my 2 so much that I did the screws with Loctite. More Micarta will come this way when its turn in line comes up. Until then it is all Grivory. I have hack sawed patterns onto them but usually melt small divots with a soldering iron. I like the size and design of the Grivory grips, but they feel too slippery for my comfort. I will likely sand blast a set some day when I remember. I am curious as to how they will come out.

I have micarta on some and factory on others. I just recently put micarta on my 11 and 14 and man can I tell you that I love those 2 now. Some of the ones that have factory handles on I put a ranger band around and I think that is a good solution for me.

My two BK7 sit with the factory Grivory. Both modified for better grip and i like it. The Camillus Grivory is better stuff then the Kabar IMO

Don't see Micarta of G10 as a real upgrade from my modded handles. Maybe someday I'll put on the Micarta replacment handles on when the grivory gets destroyed.
Wooden handles always have seen odd to me on Beckers. The designs are to modern for wooden handles....at least when they leave the factory:rolleyes:

I have micarta for fullsize and tweener and grivory/zytel as well, The micarta looks better, but I can't honestly say that I notice a performance difference. but it does look real nice. I do prefer the Camillus grivory (it's thicker and I have huge hands-- saves me from having to forget to add liners) For grippier stuff, I've tried media blasted grivory-- that's where it's at. It's got to be the best grippier method I've tried.

I gotta say that the factory Micarta® is nice and grippy. Haven't had a chance to work out my 9 since I put it on, but I'm really digging it on the 12. I'm in the process of making some scales in wood, which I really love the look and feel of. Grivory's OK, too, just kinda hard to hold onto with the 9 & 4. I've got some material to make my own "micarta" when the weather warms up a bit - needs to be done outside, though. Maybe I'll even finish the wood ones......

but all of my other beckers still rock stock grivory. Might make micarta for a tweener (15) in the near future, but I do like to carve on the grivory.

Obviously i like wood handles...i grew up working with wood,my father and grandfather were woodcraftsmen.i like the way it look, the way it feels.i also grew up with opinel knives and as we know, wooden handle.it is just natural to me.i have those micarta thing on the 14... Don t care for them and waitng for some zebrawood from tommy as i am typing this.
I probably would feel the same way with bone or stag handles,i just like the natural/earthy look of it,they re just harder to come thru or make.

What's that wood called on you BK5?
