Sounds like your wife doesn't know about 1st Kind of Cool vs. 2nd Kind of Cool. I had to explain it to my wife too.My wife is like, “All knives are the same, why do you collect them?”
Sounds like your wife doesn't know about 1st Kind of Cool vs. 2nd Kind of Cool. I had to explain it to my wife too.
1st Kind of Cool is how a blade functions. And, yes, almost all knives cut and perform relatively well at that task.
2nd Kind of Cool is how a blade makes you feel. And if you just like it, and it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, then it's a keeper.
As already mentioned, I'm sure your wife has handbags or shoes or perfumes that function just fine, and some that just make her happy.
2nd Kind of Cool often trumps 1st Kind of Cool. And, in many cases, that's exactly why we keep our wives around. For the warm and fuzzy stuff.![]()
You've got a good woman thereShe wants to travel and visit places, not collect things; create memories not hoard piles
So no handbags and jewelry and shoes, other than Osprey backpacks, a hiking whistle, Applewatch, and Salomon waterproof boots.
I did 30 miles on the Appalachian trail during a high adventure boy scout camp adventure. A fantastic experience! Such beautiful scenery! You've got a good woman thereDocJekl ... You should take her hiking on the AppalachianTrail. I did a thru-hike in 1998 with my dad. Best 5 months of my life.
And that was back when I was in my 20's before I had any money. Carried a Large Gerber EZ-Out and a Leatherman PST. I wonder what I'd take if I went today...![]()

Rocky Mountain adventure for a honeymoon sounds amazing. And Peru is going to be spectacular! Sorry to hear about your lung issues. FYI, GlobalHealing.com sells a Lung Health formula that I used when I quit smoking a few years ago, and it really helped my lungs recover from years of abuse. I'm back to hiking and even doing a little trail running lately. You might want to check it out. I dropped a link below for ya.' And I never properly thanked you for posting the pics in my Microtech GAW. Thank you for that, very thoughtful. The winner, DennisM, received his knife yesterday, and he was thrilled to have his first MT and his first OTF. And it sounds like it won't be his last... You know how that goes. LOL. Take care, my friend! She'd love to do that. Our honeymoon was a 2 week trip through the Canadian and US Rocky Mountains, with one suitcase and one internal frame camping backpack each. It was a lot of hiking mixed in with luxury hotels.
She and her best friend are going to Peru for 2 weeks this October, because she wants to see places, not buy things. I'm a little too disabled with my lung disease to go on this trip where they will be at very high elevation at times, such as places like Lake Titicaca at 12,500 feet. One trip they might do is 17K feet, and we live at 6666 feet.
They tend to multiply! Check out the Protech SBRSecond protech, first auto. Came with a little box of color coordinated goodies. Perfect fifth pocket knife.
