Everyone's latest acquisitions!

I just got a handful of knives back from Gary W. Graley Gary W. Graley with New Lanyards, Thanks!

They are using beads I got off Etsy. Four of the 6 beads have glow in the dark material in them, 2 with it mixed in with carbon fiber. I also had a new Timascus inlay and blue hardware to install on one.

The purple lanyard on the blue and carbon fiber Flytanium was on purpose, to match the purple Timascus inlays that I'd bought (with blue and Ti screws); and moving the carbon fiber scales and black screws from the blue Flytanium to the silver Flytanium also helped the inlays to match the bead (and improved the contrast on the knife, while making it lighter).

As they arrived:

So, I forgot to install the backspacer on one of the Flytaniums before I sent everything for lanyards, but the blue pocket clip, blue Ti screws, and Timascus inlays went on fine...

The finished Flytanium Arcades - blue one missing a backspacer, which I'll install after cutting off the lanyard and then send the knife back to Gary for a new lanyard 😓

Last year sold off 90% of my stag collection, just kept a handful of favorites, but now very recently picked up the smaller of the two folders.

It is a pre-91 Hugo Koller. (The logo changed when the company was bought up by Puma in 1991.) Very smooth opening. Very solid.

Left to right: Hugo Koller, Puma, Akah, Anton Wingen, Henckels (game shears.) Puma and Akah also have bone saws, which you don't see in the photos.

My wife is like, “All knives are the same, why do you collect them?”
Sounds like your wife doesn't know about 1st Kind of Cool vs. 2nd Kind of Cool. I had to explain it to my wife too.
1st Kind of Cool is how a blade functions. And, yes, almost all knives cut and perform relatively well at that task.
2nd Kind of Cool is how a blade makes you feel. And if you just like it, and it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, then it's a keeper.
As already mentioned, I'm sure your wife has handbags or shoes or perfumes that function just fine, and some that just make her happy.
2nd Kind of Cool often trumps 1st Kind of Cool. And, in many cases, that's exactly why we keep our wives around. For the warm and fuzzy stuff. ;)

She wants to travel and visit places, not collect things; create memories not hoard piles 🥹

So no handbags and jewelry and shoes, other than Osprey backpacks, a hiking whistle, Applewatch, and Salomon waterproof boots.

You've got a good woman there DocJekl DocJekl ... You should take her hiking on the AppalachianTrail. I did a thru-hike in 1998 with my dad. Best 5 months of my life.
And that was back when I was in my 20's before I had any money. Carried a Large Gerber EZ-Out and a Leatherman PST. I wonder what I'd take if I went today... 🤔

I did 30 miles on the Appalachian trail during a high adventure boy scout camp adventure. A fantastic experience! Such beautiful scenery!

She'd love to do that. Our honeymoon was a 2 week trip through the Canadian and US Rocky Mountains, with one suitcase and one internal frame camping backpack each. It was a lot of hiking mixed in with luxury hotels.

She and her best friend are going to Peru for 2 weeks this October, because she wants to see places, not buy things. I'm a little too disabled with my lung disease to go on this trip where they will be at very high elevation at times, such as places like Lake Titicaca at 12,500 feet. One trip they might do is 17K feet, and we live at 6666 feet.

I had a bunch of stuff arrive last week while I was on vacation - I didn't even feel like taking pics of knives in trees on hikes or at dinner :) [edit for 2 typos]

* Buck 113 "Danny Collection LE" in S45VN and Curley maple - made by Danny Peretti as 1 of 63 before he retired.
* Boker Manufaktur Solingen Vigtig vs Wild in Magnacut
* Null Knives Voodoo in Hand Brushed 20CV and Black Camo Fat Carbon
* Adam Purvis Xerx numbered 6/240 but no other info available. Thanks @Microxbox !
* Chris Reeve Large Plainjane Inkosi in Magnacut. Thanks @rhebbar !
* Heretic Wraith in Elmax with carbon fiber bolsters. Thanks @damascus9 !
* Flytanium Timascus inlay for Arcadewith blue anodized Ti clip, backspacer, and screws
* LynchNW PM2 Ti scale in Fuchsia Metallic - thinking of modding my Magnacut PM2 Salt
* Hinderer Battle Blue Hardware for doing the Dog Paw Ti scale mod later on a Battle Blue Magnacut Slicer

Here is the note that comes with the Buck:

"This exclusive Buck model 113 Ranger Skinner features satin finished, E BOS heat treated, S45VN chipflint steel, clip point blade. The handle is made of curly maple wood with a brass bolster. Complete with a USA made leather sheath, this unique knife is expertly handcrafted by Dan Peretti as part of a limited run released in the summer of 2024. Danny retired in the spring of 2024 as the Head of the Buck Warranty Department after 48 years as a knifemaker."

Some beautiful knives. Expensive taste !!

Rocky Mountain adventure for a honeymoon sounds amazing. And Peru is going to be spectacular! Sorry to hear about your lung issues. FYI, GlobalHealing.com sells a Lung Health formula that I used when I quit smoking a few years ago, and it really helped my lungs recover from years of abuse. I'm back to hiking and even doing a little trail running lately. You might want to check it out. I dropped a link below for ya.' And I never properly thanked you for posting the pics in my Microtech GAW. Thank you for that, very thoughtful. The winner, DennisM, received his knife yesterday, and he was thrilled to have his first MT and his first OTF. And it sounds like it won't be his last... You know how that goes. LOL. Take care, my friend!
