Benchmade seems to be on the receiving end of quite a bit of criticism. There was the gun thing and their prices and on and on.
That being said, this is my new Benchmade 940 in Magnacut….and here’s the story:

I’m in my 60’s and I had one of the Benchmade knives my Dad left to me fail. (An older auto/manual combination folder) Now this knife was almost 40 years old and I’d never used it: kept it in a display case. A month ago I looked it over and noticed it was no longer functioning so I sent it to Benchmade for repair, as their knives are guaranteed for life. A few days later I received a correspondence from Benchmade stating that they no longer had parts to repair the knife. Benchmade offered a $300 merchandise credit due to the situation at hand, as well as the return of my Dad’s knife. IMO an incredibly generous gesture considering the circumstances. Perhaps this example may serve to at least mitigate some negative feelings toward Benchmade: it certainly did me.

I bet @WValtakis can repair that old Benchmade! Or knows somebody who can get it running again.

Maybe, if it just needs a spring made it should be doable...but I'd think Benchmade could have done that. If it's something else mechanical it may not be repairable without a donor parts knife.
