Everyone's latest acquisitions!

I considered that model, but I thought the bronze looked best with the green micarta, and the carbon fiber looked best with black shield. If I bought a 3rd one, this would be it.

Re-reading my post it looks like I'm not liking the knife, and said in not such a nice way. I really didn't mean it to come out like that, and I should have said, "that variation is in my top 3 and the one I plan to get next."

For those of you wondering when I am going to stop posting a new knife every day for weeks on end, I may run out soon.

But I have 5 new pre-orders coming between January and May 2023 (including Winterblade, Kunwu, David Mary Knives, and Urban EDC), and I still have 12 here or on the way that I have not posted yet. I can't post them as fast as I acquire them. That tells the lizard part of my brain that maybe I should slow down...
My friend - you're doing great. As long as you still have the passion and means, you shall continue.

Just received a Gen 4 Spyderco Police G10 K390 that I bought off of the Exchange.

Nothing particularly unique aobut it except for the blade steel but it's been a "unicorn" for me because I've been looking to buy one (after passing on it for some unknown reason) since it was discontinued in 2020.

Lots of lightweight FRN K390's but few sightings of any in G10 unless they were beat up or the seller was asking too much. Just wanted one to complete my small collection of Police models -- Gen 2 thru Gen 4 -- which looks like this now:

From top to bottom:

1) Gen 2 SS PE VG10
2) Gen 2 SS PS VG10
3) Gen 2 SS SE VG10
4) Gen 3 G10 PE VG10
5) Gen 4 G10 PE K390

---------------------------------

Note:

I also have one other Gen 2 SS PE VG10 Police model which only has a "bug" on the blade that I am keeping to carry.

There are several different variations of the printing on the blade. All of the ones above pictured further above have both the word "POLICE" and the "bug" on the blade, which is the variation that I prefer.

I’d love to know how they made the butt/pommel... I highly doubt they machined out a huge block of V4E to make the tang + butt/pommel a single piece. However, it really does look like one solid piece of DLC V4E. No seams at all. Could the butt/pommel have been welded somehow? I can’t remove the handles to figure this one out. Maybe a hidden screw/fastener under the scales?

Maybe the (4.5mm) tang extends out just far enough so that the metal butt cap/pommel which has a a precisely milled out (4.5mm) female slot can then be epoxied to the 4VE tang? However one would still think that a seam would be visible at the transition between those two parts?

This is plausible I guess. But yeah, no seam whatsoever. I even had the magnifying glass out… maybe the dlc coating filled in/covered up the gap? I’m not sure how dlc works though. Idk if it acts that way when applied.

I suppose it is possible that it could be an integral design where they machine and shape a thick steel blank down to size but that doesn’t seem like it would be a particularly cost effective option even on a higher-end type of production knife.

Just got a new little knife from Mecha, as you can see I play with chemicals and one of the many things Mecha told me was titanium’s very high resistance to chemicals. I told him I would testit out. Very knowledgeable and willing to share it. Great person to interact with.
