I never cared for Hoback’s religious knife writings and I’m not big on this logo either. But this was just too cool and rare to pass up.

Forgot to take my wallet out of my pocket when I came home from work this morning, and I threw all my work clothes in the washer.

Upon taking everything out of my wallet to lay out to dry, I had all but forgot that I carry this little slicey guy nearly every single day, and never show him any edc picture love.

The Buck 112 has always epitomized what I consider the perfect aesthetic with respect to knives. On top of that, the Ranger Sport Knife version of the 112 is the very pinnacle. I recently received this and disassembled it today for inspection and oiling. I was surprised regarding the absence of a PB washer. The tang rubs the liner directly. So I stropped the surfaces and applied 3 in 1 oil. The action is now very nice and deploys effortlessly with a flick of the thumb. Nice action.

This knife was dedicated to Francisco Javier Balmis.

Francisco Javier de Balmis (Alicante, 2 December 1753 – Madrid, 12 February 1819) was a Spanish physician best known for leading an 1803 expedition to Spanish America and the Philippines to vaccinate populations against smallpox. His expedition is considered the first international vaccination campaign in history and one of the most important events in the history of medicine. It inspired recent vaccination efforts such as that of Dr. Carlos Canseco, president of Rotary International, to start the worldwide program Polio Plus to eradicate polio.
