Depends on what you call poor. Its convexed and not terribly consistent along the length of the edge, but it's sharp enough to shave hair off of my arm. I'm fine with it.

Oh allright thanks for the answer. Half the blade on mine was as dull as a butter knife.

Nice! No, by that comparison mine is pretty good. Out of box sharpness isn't a big concern of mine though. I'll gladly trade a sharp blade for a centered one any day and this one is dead centered.
 
Got this from Wally for $49. Gotta say, I really like it. Full tang 1/4" thick blade USA made blade with a badass sheath and coyote tan. Oh yeah and PLAIN EDGE. I'm still rooting for Gerber and this knife is making me curious about some of their other new ones.
