Do you know where the name "On Belay" came from?

I know it from repelling, but not sure why Greg named it that.

Could be. I'm also thinking it's probably hard to come up with names for different models. Probably why some companies use #'s. Maybe he was scrolling the internet and it stood out. Who knows.

I was speaking in jest.

'On belay' is used by climbers to indicate safety. IOW, reliable knife to have and use.

If I'm correct, it's a climber who is above another, telling the lower climber that "the rope/line is taut and to go ahead and make your ascent".
