You guys may get tired of me before the day is over if not already.
But when I stuck those pics up of the rear spacer earlier, something jumped out and bit me, as bro Dave might say,,,, or goosed me as Bro Goose might say.

So I am going to start with one of the pics I put up earlier and go from there.
In this one look at the old ones right at where the handles meet the bolsters.
And then down along the edges of the right hand knife. Can see the adhesive.

Believe me when I say, that isn't visible with just a casual look at either of them. This high res camera does bring out things that may not otherwise be noticed. So here are some more pics that you may find interesting.

ok, ok, I am showing off, or not, a 3rd version, minty? This and the rest, is the knife on the right.

Might give you an idea of what I am seeing... and it is on both of those old ones. First time I ever noticed.....

Well rats again.... photobucket downsized these pics big time... now I remember why I like image shack for large files. The originals are around 1.7 meg and show much better detail.

Maybe you should get a low resolution camera :D!!!
Looks like a beauty to me! Did they charge extra for the adhesive?
That is neat that you point that out though! I am going to have to start taking pics of those sides of my 119's!

I'm blind in one eye and can't see outta the other.....I'll bite,
or you can wait until more that can see.

Yeah,,, I had forgot that I set the res higher for something else when I took those first ones. Otherwise wouldn't have ever seen that. Now the search begins through this drawer full of oldies looking for uniqueness :)

Just intersting to me because I have heard of adhesives being used on handles, just never seen it... before.... I am easily entertained....:o

I'll check mine when I get home under my mini Hubble.

Just looking at them, I have gotten to where I can tell what I am looking at under good light. But I am using a 3x jewlers loop mostly....

I am the same,,, blind in one eye and cant see out the other... Look where the wood meets the rear of the left bolster.

Click on it and it gets bigger.

Yes...I noticed the adhesive layer on the one pic you posted in the other thread...

Joe Houser commented on that some time back...really good stuff; I couldn't get it off without it taking pieces of the wood with it...

That "stuff " is pretty heavy maybe to take up space from the difference in the frame and wood scales.

Hey Packrat,
You should really just send that one to me! My camera isnt that good!
It would look flawless in my pictures :D

Me, too...Back when I took an early 110 apart, I posted pics of the adhesive and how it held so good that the wood ripped right off before the glue ever did...I think Joe posted the name of whatever it was that Buck used back then...Buckets of the stuff on the assembly line... :D

I don't know if I deleted the pics or not... :(

Here's one labeled 110_glue...let's see what it looks like...

OK...That's the liner of a 110 with the scale pulled off...the dark stuff is the layer of glue still sticking to the brass liner...

I must have missed those picx Trax,

I just dug out another 4th version and it has an even heavier bead of adhesive but it is darker and invisible to my blindness except for this jewlers loop....

I did discover that if you run a fingernail between bolster and wood, both ways, and you feel a burr both ways, it is the adhesive.

Definitely a serious adhesive.

i have seen 110s with wood busted off ... a scale wont be any good after that ..
wander if there is a release agent...
the new glues do have a release agent...

Ahhh,,,that was in the timeframe we were still at the ranch hunting.

Just found some on a micarta 112..

Folks!!! please don't get me wrong on any of this. I find it interesting that I can actully see some of this. Not complaining in any way what so ever.
Just part of the Buck History.

Now I am trying to see some sort of time frame. So far none on any of the dot knives.
