Excitement for GEC Bullnose in Micarta?

Ok, one member with a delrin model, and Brian, go find a ruler, measure your knife's thickness at the butt and at the pivot area, and post back here.
Ready,......GO

Well, why don'tcha just buy one each and measure them when you get em.:)

I'd get one in linen micarta regardless of thickness, but money is tighter than tight for me right now. Mainly I'm just curious (as I'm sure others are).

These are a nice lookin knife. I can't find anything to not like about these, and then I read that they have half-stops too... How cool is that ?

Yeah "just buy one of each" never really applies to me. I don't think I'll mind either way on the thickness though.

I believe that's linen micarta. The canvas micarta knives haven't shipped from the seller yet.

I'm very excited about the Bullnose micartas. So much so, that I'm considering picking up another Canvas Micarta Bullnose as a back-up knife. At this time, the Canvas Micarta Bullnose is the only knife that I would consider owning two just in case I loose the other!

My bet is that Mike will have no canvas models left to post on his site by the time the knives arrive. These seem to have went very quickly!

They no longer show as pre-order so I wonder if he has received the shipment of knives. Either way I do agree that I do not expect these to be around long at all.

Just so happens they did roll in today, and will go out Monday. Total production was 57 and 2 edc's.

The linen are really nice as well, but I just like that heavier grain look and hand finished feel.

Why did I get a confirmation mine was shipped? :confused:Is that just automatic that the order was placed?

My orange lock back is 7/16" at the pivot and about 15/32 at the butt end.

I got the same thing. Shipping labels were most likely made today in order to go out Monday. You'll notice that there's not any activity on your tracking number yet.

The notice they shipped is just a standard message when the shipping labels are purchased and printed, probably through Paypal. The package still needs to be physically dropped off at the PO or picked up by a postal worker. My guess is that by the time they arrived today and Mike sorted, boxed the knives and printed the labels the PO was closed. They'll ship on Monday and be on your door in no time!

Got my linen model today, two days earlier than USPS said it would arrive. This linen micarta bullnose has superb fit and finish. There are no gaps anywhere. The micarta is beautiful. Scale to liner fit is perfect, blade is centered. Blade grinds are perfect and the satin(?) finish is perfect, no spots or waves that I can detect. The slight swedge on the blade spine is a nice touch to the sodbuster pattern (not sure if other models have this). The spring is perfectly flush with the liners at the open and closed position, it is less than 1/64" lower than the liners at the half-stop position, just barely palpable, the spring pin is perfect to the scale, you can't even feel the pin with a thumbnail. The pivot pin is a bit proud, you can feel the edge with your finger, but those are the only imperfections (??) I can detect. Pull is perfect to me. I can pinch the blade open with very little effort, and using the nick is easy. I wish my Cocobolo 73 was fitted this nice. I think I'm gonna love this knife. It's like a custom knife on a budget.

My orange lock back is 7/16" at the pivot and about 31/32 at the butt end.

My linen model is 1/2" at both butt and pivot. Yours can't be almost an inch thick (31/32) at the butt (typo?).
