Exotic Ammo

I think the whole "one stop shot" concept is much like a toupee. Everyone wants to believe it works, however it never completely gets the job done, and it really never seems to work as described when you need it to the most. Until we perfect the "phasers on stun..." weapon. I feel novelty bullets will be an ever present part of the gun industry. I've said it once, and I'll say it again. Shot placement, shot placement, shot placement!!!

But those are some pretty F&#king cool bullets :D

Great collection, but I think it's pretty funny that someone feels the need to make special "head shot" .45s. How many people do you think live long enough to fight back after being shot in the head with a .45, no matter what the bullet? Also, do you have to reload if you can't see the guy's head?

believe it or not i knew someone who was shot at least once (maybe twice) in the head w/a .45 FMJ, he was in the army, an MP, and some guy supposedly shot him while he was on duty, i dont remember the details now, i do know it was obvious he had had some major trauma to the facial area, other than walking funny and talking funny he was 100%. looked like it hurt though lol. also dont know if he fought back/etc, he never talked much about it.

No primer, no primer pocket hole.... Discovered in a 100-round Winchester "Value Pack" box of full metal jacket 'training' ammo....

I didn't know that I was buying a box of jam-clearing drill ammunition! ;)

What's the story on the first round, second row down?

That is a VELEX explosive round made in the early 1970s

The guy who made them also made valet,ex-ammo explosive rounds and the cyanide filled LAST GASP rounds. He also made the original auto spike pens "the inner city sportsman pencil "and a cyanide spray and some other weird items.

That is probably something you really don't want to accidently shoot yourself in the foot with.

He was taken to court for the inner city pens under the switchblade laws and won but was advised to stop selling the last gasp items..I think their was a bit of prison time due to some other ATF biz. I will get a pic up of a original ad fro SOF from the late 1970s.

What about 5 across 3 down.... Looks like a screwhead.
Pretty odd.

This round is called "Safe Stop" and it doesn't deflect from surfaces as readily as other rounds. Here's a link to the manufacturer:

Here's a link to a discussion about it:

I don't use it (yet) and have no connection to Jim Cirillo, but it has been independently tested to do what it claims.

Bummer, guess I missed out. I've never heard a bad word about fuzzy. He seems like a stand up guy.

No primer, no primer pocket hole.

I seem to remember that a similar dud round cost Ross Seyfried an IPSC World Championship back in the 80s. It had a primer etc., but no flash hole.

7 over, 7 down . . . is that one of those Cyclone rounds?

That is absolutely the coolest ammunition collection I've ever seen.

Does it belong to you, or BATF?

Al,

I recognize many rounds there, but many I have never seen and/or heard of.

Can you give us a full listing/description when you have time?

Thanks.

Wow, that's a very cool set. A detailed description of each one would be awesome. I think starting a site is a great idea.
