Exotic steels

James i tested a jason jacobs d2 wootz blade recently. Triple u clamped to a wheelbarrow handle.(yes the goal was to break it) it took a few minutes of baseball swings against oak trees and oak stumps before it snapped at the guard.( the tang was only 1/8"x3/16") i believe it wouldn't have broken if the tang was full. He's sending me a free replacement, (with thicker tang) and a full tang without handle for further testing. Iv'e spent several hours on the phone with jason and we have many projects going. Some blades of hanyes 25 cobalt alloy, boler ultramax (high cromium d2), and were going to vacume sinter (closest description of his process) some cheap 420 and 440 crap that looks nice but will bend when wacking 2" saplings. Please email me if you have any questions or just want to talk. Sincerely, mark goodless 954-557-9011 swordmark@aol.com
