Expensive Knife

Most I've ever spent is right around $150, and I seem to do that a lot. Spydercos, ZTs, Hogues, Benchmades... Seems to be my comfort zone and the price range that I think is reasonable. I don't begrudge anyone deciding to spend more, or even much more. For me it seems that the returns diminish at some point much over the $150 price point - excluding the "wow" or "I just love the way it looks" factor. That's just me.

Most expensive: Tie between my Busse B4 magnum and Spyderco Lionspy at $235 for some reason that's my current price cap but at the rate im going it will be raised soon.
Both were my grails and both are incredible. I guess im in love with that blade shape lol.

$108 ( This is the most I've ever spent on a knife, and most I ever will.)

Reliability and looks
Went with my gut feeling and I was right. :D

My new grayman dua is my most expensive knife and was/is my grail. I didn't purchase it but traded three knives and a sharpmaker for it which was a big decision for me. I never handled one before but once I saw one I knew I had to have one. I did plenty of research on it and it was just everything I wanted in an edc knife. The moment I held it I was speechless. It was even better than I imagined and I haven't regretted the trade even for a minute. Its only been a few weeks but the dua hasnt been more than a five foot radius away from me.

Chris Reeve Sebenza 25. Didn't hear anything bad about them but the price, $465 shipped

I loved the materials, titanium s35vn

I had to see what all the rage was about and why a knife would cost so much. Im still surprised i have a knife that costs that, but i think it was worth it. I sold a gun to buy it

and my second most expensive knife, a Fallkniven NL4 Frej. That knife was $312 and i saw a few pictures of it a year or so back and was always in my mind. That knife also blew me away when i got it. Beautiful in every way. Amazing balance.

Neither knife was handled before ordering, i was going off CRK by online reviews and the Fallkniven by a picture i saw so long ago. Both have made me less of a skeptic.

I carry the CRK in my EDC rotation, the Fallkniven not so much, like my other fixed blades. Which means i need to start hiking and camping!

just recently spent 775 on a orange peel F3 from dave curtis. absolutely love it and dont regret it at all. my wallet sure is a lot thinner now but im happy. in the end if im happy with it then it doesnt matter what it cost

700+ on a MT Halo and I am thrilled! What an amazing piece of work. I still get a chubby when I hit that button :)

ESEE Junglas, about $180 for the knife and the sheath. I would sooner loose my left foot before I lost that knife.

I have bought a few from Busse and CRK in the $400+ range. But I've figured out over time that I'm more of an entry level or mid level knife guy, so I'll probably sell the Busses eventually. I should sell the CRKs too, but my hoarding instincts prevent me.

An xm18. The detent, like someone else mentioned, was almost nonexistent. Was pretty much told to f**k off by Rob Orlando when he told me that's how they wanted it, knowing damned well it's a quality issue and that no LEO that carries it in their right mind would want it like that. That's when I knew I got gyped because of the "hard use, overbuilt" nonsense.

Gotta love Rob...

I too purchased a couple of XM-18's and XM-24's paying over $500.00 for each. They were certainly nice knives, but dealing with Rick and Rob left a very bad taste in my mouth and I sold them.

Right now I have a ZT 0777 that I probably paid too much for at around $500.00 but I do like it. I'm think about a custom at roughly that same price point. I doubt I'll ever pay over $1000.00 for a knife.

I have two knives made by Bob Dozier that ran about $275-$300 each. One is my EDC fixed blade and the other is sort of a mid sized skinner type knife. Love both of them. The EDC (Dozier Personal) was purchased at the Blade Show from Bob and the skinner (Wilderness Guides Knife) was purchased from AG Russell sight unseen (around Christmas), but I know Bob's work very well. I have been carrying the Guides Knife a lot lately just to get used to it, sort of a large belt edc. I really like it and it just feels right on my belt. I suspect this entirely due to the sheath design as it is very flexible (moveable) even when driving.

I own knives that are more expensive, some of which are valued at about $1000.

Little over $650,OOO.OO I purchased the knife about 14 years ago while on vac. at Dollywood in Tn. The Group Alabama was playing there for 3 nights, man what a great show. We had family in from 5 states and rented a monster 7 BR house on top a mountain near Gatlinberg Tn... All the men were in this huge game room in the basement, been drinking whiskey, burning a lot of "fire" that summer day, when we all heard all hell break loose way upstarts. House had basement and then 2 ground floors. Coming to the ground floor kitchen I reached for protection and went to the top floor with an 5 inch 'ol hickory pearing knife. There I saw one of my 5 brother in laws naked in bed with my wife, and his wife beating them both with the legs off a broken ironing board. She turned to yell at me, my brother in law jumps up, and I swear to God, and was acquitted of all charges, him running naked, fell into that 'ol hickory as he was falling to the hardwood floor. Needless to say that ended the trip for me and we split it up 50/50. if you count the Alabama tickets, about $650,140.00. Still got the knife. Sheriff laughed like hell when he gave it to me after court in TN. Divorce was in NC. WTF ps fear was the reason I got the knife.

If this story is true, my hat off to you sir as this is the craziest story involving a knife I have ever heard in my life. I just hope your wife or you had sisters, if not that would make it your wife's brother and that there is some Game of Thrones sh#t.

As to the original thread

CRK Inlay Large Sebenza
Thrilled and Disappointed at the same time. Thrilled that yes it is an AMAZING knife, disappointed that it just was not for me (I did not like the blade profile - too narrow) or thumstuds thus I sold it.

I was and am still thrilled with it.

Love the size, shape, materials and design. Had to have it. First what I consider premium blade I owned.

Did not handle it first but I like big blades so I didn't see how I could go wrong.
