Expensive knives aka safe queens?

I don't even enjoy a knife if i don't use it. I get my pleasure having the knife in my pocket. To me a knife is a companion. I like my companion to come out and do stuff with me. Not some lazy useless thing sitting in a dark room by themselves all day :D.

That puts it better than i ever could

I have a few expensive knives, but none of them are safe queens. The way I see it, if I can't afford to use it, then I can't afford it.

In my mind, the greatest potential expense associated with a $400 carry knife would be the cost of buying it and then *not* carrying it.

That about sums it up. To me, it's not about how much money I spent, but how much value am I getting for that money. My 3 favorite knives would be valued at $450, $300, and $200 new, but I only invested $365 to buy them in the first place.

If I had not used them, I would have tripled my investment.

I've gotten more fun and enjoyment, as well as good ole work out of them that is of more value to me than the money would have been.

I really need to get a picture of the three of them together, in all their worn-in glory.

My only safe queens are knives that my father left to me. I even use some of them. Because all my knives are users I'm starting to believe that unless a knife is just plain beautiful while being particularly functional, there is no reason to own it over, say a Spyderco Tenacious, or a kershaw Cyclone, Needs Work etc. Knives around $50 or so are great for work. And if i need to sharpen then more often than my S30v knives, thats fine too. They'll just get that hard working look on them, kinda like me.

What is the point of having a nice knife, and NOT using it? The pleasure of having a nice knife, is to USE it!! That is what the makers make 'em for.

Hey So-Lo, get that AC checked, i'll bet you have a freon leak somewhere. I just had to have mine recharged and repaired to the tune of $350. I had the same symptoms as you, complete with line freezing up etc. Good luck bro.
