Expensive knives you actually use

I don't keep anything I don't use anymore

Yeah $250 is ridiculous for a PM2, but maybe it was right after they were released and people were flipping them on ebay.. I don't know.

Mistakes were made :(
Boutique knife store in the fancy mall (it was the only knife shop within an hour of me, and this was before I heard of any of the reputable online dealers)

My most expensive carry folder is a large Regular Sebenza; wonderfully smooth and strong...$550 or so.
My best fixed blade is a 3" Busse Game Warden, Whiskey Warden or custom shop Max Warden, $300-$500.
Once you realize that life is actually short, you don't scrimp on carry knives.

My usual EDC folder is a Brian Nadeau mini Typhoon. I rotate between 3 of them on most days, and they're in the $500-900+ range. They see their fair share of use.

I've carried much cheaper and much more expensive knives, but I've found this model to be perfect for my 'needs'; the right size, sturdily built, good ergos, easy to carry, and it satisfies my desire to have a knife that's both a reliable tool and a display of precision craftsmanship.

I do carry other knives on occasion, but always come back to the mini Typhoon.

A Dawson Sheffield Bowie is my most expensive knife and I've used it as a camp knife on a few trips. It's in the $400 range. My silver fitted Roselli leuku is in the $250 range (retail) and while it hasn't been on a trip yet, it will see the woods and streams this summer. My EDC is a Buck 110 in the $100 range. Cheap by many standards, but it's what I have.

I use the hell out of my Large Curtiss F3. Paid $750 straight from Dave due to Military discount.
Would gladly pay the extra due to fit and finish and the Heat Treat on his CTS-XHP is superb!
I used to like the Large Sebenza, but they need to get the Heat Treat right on the S35vn and stop running it soft, just my 2 cents.
I’ve beat the hell out of this F3 and still feels like the day I received it.
This is a grail knife for me, but I use all my knives, Zero safe queens.

Nice. Those chain drives are cool. I never thought they'd be practical for EDC, but I haven't had one myself so I can't speak to how true that is.

Mine has gone without a hitch for a year now and is a great hiking companion. Nothing gets stuck in the chain

I alternate between an Emerson Seaxe and a CRK for cutting roof samples. I used to use an MT Executive Scarab to cut roof insulation. Wore the coating clean off it. I don't do safe queens and I don't care about any potential re-sale value.

Nice. I really like CTS-XHP. Easy to get it razor sharp and holds a decent edge.

My experience is the same. Keeps a "working" edge a long time, and a simple strop keeps it razor sharp. I wish I could reblade my Yo2 with CTS-XHP.

I am a user not a collector, and consequently I won't buy a knife I won't use. One of my more expensive knives is a Koenig Arius Standard with a slight hollow grind CTS-204P blade. Purchased because it hit practically all the important points for me for a working knife, and Nick Shabazz gave it a great review. Cost was $490, which is close to my upper limit and I only go there for the rare perfect example of the knife maker's craft.

The Arius does not disappoint. I carried it everyday for a bunch of months and used it daily for general utility use, and I also carried it while hunting and it field dressed 3 antelopes and 1 whitetail. All of that use was on just the first sharpening upon receiving the knife, done with a Buck Honemaster and DMT diamond hones. There is a lot of dust and dirt ground into a big game animal's fur, and the blade hits bone a lot while field dressing, especially when removing the head and hind quarters, all of which are really hard on a knife blade. After the last of the four animals to be cleaned, the Arius was still hair shaving (but not hair popping) sharp, which is an excellent testament to the blade's durability in real-world conditions, IMHO.

The Arius is the middle knife:

My Arius was my EDC knife, till it came out of my pocket at work. Im with ya on the all my knifes are users. Funny thing no matter what I put in my pocket, it don't fill the gap my Arius has left.

I'll admit , I've got definite inhibitions on hard using my few more pricy blades .

However , I do use this old Al Mar Pathfinder I bought way back . This was the one they sent to replace the original that broke off at the hilt .

It's a bastion bolt action pen. Very happy with this pen.
Though it is a very heavy pen, not for long writing sessions.

OT(sorry)

Just got this pen and it is AMAZING!! Extremely solid construction, unbreakable..

Very high fidget factor, and yes it is heavy but very well balanced so it really doesn't matter.

Thanx for the tip man!

:cool::thumbsup:
