Explain Limited Productions

I understand but I don't think KAI really cares what the market demand is. They know they will sell all of them no matter how many they make.

I think it's a simple formula. They have x amount of hours available in a certain window. The knife takes y amount of hours to produce. Divide them and that's realistically how many they can make without impacting other lines.

Not sure if brainstorming is that worthwhile. It's not like KAI has a presence here anymore.

I remember years ago when Kershaw made a few limited editions that were great knives but they simply did not move all that fast and their demand never went crazy like more recent models they have made, most of which were long before their boot of ZT. The Titanium Bumps were one of the more recent examples.

I believe Benchmade does better in this area, as my M390 Barrage still says "limited production" even though it's available in unlimited numbers from nearly every dealer. Though there are plenty of dealer exclusives, those are plentiful as well.

It's not quite to the level of my 4001 Tilt, but the M390 steel is plenty premium to me.
