If a man can do this, just give him your wallet, and thank him for sparing your life. Nice tricks.

Agree with evrything Ken said.

Gotta find what works for you. I've owned spydercos since the late 80's. Lots of variability as far as deployment to say the least. The hole, while innovative, is not the be all end all.

The thumb hole works perfectly for me, it looks cool and it doesn't interfere with cutting like thumb stud can. On my knives I think thumb studs flick better, but I don't bother with flicking knives anymore.

Spydie flick it.

All my Spydecos and Some Benchmades with thumb holes get flicked.

I prefer Spydie holes over studs or disk.

WTH is that he did? Holy crap. I tried, but I don't have lady fingers. If I try to stick my middle finger in a spyderco's hole, maybe 2 mil will stick out the other side. There are really fully grown men on this planet who can stick a finger through the Spyderco hole? I just tried my pinky and even that can't make it a 1/4 of the way the guys middle finger did.

Its what some call the Spyder-flick or middle finger flick and is widely used.

It only works well on SOME models, not all. Tenacious, PM2, Sage series, Millie and Manix are popular models that make this flick a viable option for everyday EDC use.

The guy on the vid has skinny fingers but you actually do not need the finger inside the Spyderhole at all, just need to have enough flesh/fingernail on a corner of your finger to catch onto the hole. The 1/4 of the way could be too much finger actually if you have large hands.

The Hole and the pocket clip changed the knife world forever. Thank you, Sal.

I like the spydie hole especially the 14mm hole on my PM2. I use the thumb and middle finger way. It looks cool too. My mini Grip with thumb stud and Axis lock is quicker though.

You mostly appreciate it when you flick it, in lets you be less precise and not worry about slipping. You can flick any knife with a spydiehole even a backlock, though you might lose some nail.

For many years, I never really got Spyder's either. But mostly because the FRN just looked cheap. So when I finally decided to try one, it was a titanium/g10/CF flipper (Blue Weave Domino). Go figure. And I absolutely loved it, and use both the hole and the flipper. So I decided to try another, then another, and a few FRN's, and more CF's. Now I can't stop dammit!

I have no problem flipping with thumb, but have never been able to flick with any other finger. My hands are between med and lrg, and only now becoming "not so thin" with age. But my thumb just seems to fall right into position for the Spydie Hole. So for me it was a long time coming, but now just love them. Lately I've had a bad fetish with ZT flippers and Spyderco's from all countries. But the Taiwan Spyders are my favorite of the bunch.

i like the spyder hole much more the thumb-studs,i don't tend to flick open my knifes as i think its generally hard on the stop pin!

It also allows you to "Wave" open any Spyderco! Just add a Zip-Tie and bang! You've got yourself a wave opening...

The Spyderhole is my second-favorite opening method behind the flipper. I vastly prefer it over thumbstuds. My only complaint is the amount of real estate required to incorporate the hole into the blade. The result is that narrow Spydercos are few and far between. Fortunately there are enough of them (Native, Centofante Memory, Southard to name a few) to make that a non-issue for me. :)

I think adding a zip tie to a Spyderco looks incredibly foolish and sloppy. The Spyder hole looks so elegant that a ridiculous plastic zip tie on it is like adding Sweet N' Low to a glass of Johnny Walker Black. Blasphemy.

Yeah yeah just my opinion.

Works great though!

Did that to a military before because I didn't know how a wave worked at the time. Since the millie is tip down, I took it out and snagged the tie on the side of my pants while pulling the knife in the direction of my butt. Well, it opened partially and I wound up stabbing myself in the a**.

+1 for that comment.
I think the zip tie looks like sh!t on there.
What's the "wave"?
