Thanks you guys. It is really some beautiful wood. I will dig through my stash and see if I can find some more of the really good stuff. The only problem is when I rediscover what I have stashed, I want to keep it for myself and I tend to stash it again. I know it sounds like compulsive behavior, but I have to admit, I'm a weird wood junkie.
 
Wood arrived. Truely a fantastic piece of redwood. I am considering making a wakizashi and matching tanto ,with the tsuka and saya for both from this piece. I might inlay the iron tsuba with a copper or bronze redwood tree.
