EXTREMA RATIO Col Moschin Guarantee

Hey Buddy,

are you really sure you got an original, authentic Extrema Ratio?

Just watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZppBDk-L2c and have a look at Minute 16:33.

On an original ER, there is no number printed on the TANG.

Maybe you got a fake from China...?

EXTREMA RATIO rules! These are figthing knifes, NOT camp knifes ....

Cheers
Vincent

I think it had to be a fake...hard to believe you can drop any knife from 1.5 m and have it break in half, let alone one worth $3-400.

This doesn't explain why ER examined and said that there was "nothing wrong with it".. unless they can't spot fake from their own.

As military person, why would you want knife that only can fight? There are plenty of fighting knives out there that can take the beating. ER obviously can't.

Sad but true. Next time go with a mora. Not fancy but effective.

Hi everybody))

My name is Mikhael I'm in the military and I used a lot of knives in my lives, good and bad knife . Today I intend to become a costumer of Busse Company besause it seems to me that they're the best on the market when it comes to military use (only my opinion). Here I would like to talk about Extrema Ratio's knife... Sadly not for the best... For two years now I've been a costumer of that company but I've had some bad experience. I used my knife for my work and I've had two Col Moschin combat knives. First I want to say that in terms of design they are great, they indeed are great combat knives :).

BUT one year ago the point of my knife broke :(. (During an operation in the moutains at 1800m by -25°C cutting wood (hard condition) i know)

Mmmm strange looking. The machine shown at 6.12 mins could determine the steel's actual composition in seconds

We hear this a lot with "military" or "combat" knives, that they aren't camp knives. Why not? The US long service military knife, the so-called "Ka-Bar" was copied from a civilian camp knife. What do soldiers need from a knife? Either a small utility knife or a camp knife, an outdoorsman's knife, for living off the land when at the front.

Simple high carbon steel knives like an ESEE 6 are fine for this and will be covered for damage.

MikhaelK, you didn't say where you are. If it is northern Europe in the winter, A.L. in Finland knows what he is talking about. A puukko is a useful knife for cold weather camping and for combat. Can you get an M-95 Sissipuukko from there? This link unfortunately is out of stock, but you can get pictures and information, and find out when they expect them, or search for another source.

For some reason the Chinese fakers latched on to Extrema Ratio knifes some time back. The market is flooded with fakes that look half-way convincing in photos. At least to me that has never owned the real thing. Now, the bayonet type model is an issued item. They are/where in use in Afghanistan. I don't know if they have a NATO number but the quality must be acceptable.

This was enough, I sent the knife to Extrema Ratio in Italy (50€ from my pocket). They examined it and they concluded that nothing was wrong with their knife so they would not send me another one nor repair it. But they told me that if I wanted to they could sell me another one for 190€. It is a lot of money but I liked their knife so I accepted... :o
I received my brand knew knife and I was the happiest man on Earth ! :D

One month later during a training in mountainous terrain my knife fell on the ground from aproximatively 1,50m and it broke in half, litteraly.

They told me the same thing as prevouisly and they proposed me the same thing...:thumbdn: Are you kidding me ? I've spent more than 600€ with that company and let's just say that I will not be buying anything anymore from them. I want to warn anybody who want to buy from them. They say "Being EXTREMA RATIO positive about the high quality of its products, guarantees a quick replacement of products (upon stock availability) in case of: - production fault preventing item from functionality or - break caused by production fault or inner fault in materials used." . Well it just mean that they will not replace you knife if it brake ;).

I would personally leave both these brands Extrema Ratio and Busse and go straight for Kyzliar: if you are looking for military reliable knifes....Just my opinion

I won't say anything about Extrema Ratio since this whole thread shows their lack of support for the customer and possible screw ups during heat threatment of their blades. I also don't care for the looks of their knives anyway.

But... Busse?:confused: I just had a quick look at their line of fixed blades and the general shape and grinds of all of them seem to be meant solely for stabbing. Also, they use mostly AUS8, D2 and some 440C. While I don't own any Busse, the reputation of INFI is well known. Could you please elaborate why do you think that Kyzliar knives should perform better or be more reliable than those crafted by Busse?

Well,Busse is surely great way to go too,if you are looking for expensive premium steel in knife! I would however option Kyzliar DV-2 (Russian Specnaz ops issue) made of extremly durable tough Z60 high carbon steel, knife can be used and is tested as pry bar, machete substitute, nearly undestructible soldiers tool...

Kyzliar DV 2 was developed with Russian special operations forces and widely used by them, this blade was tested over and over in harshest environments of planet,by variety of military units in Russia and have proven reliability...They made also civil version DV-2c with chromium coating instead....great knife, very recommended for heavy duty treatment...extremly well heat treated steel.
