Extrema Ratio MPC folder

EasEWryder -- have you taken the knife apart to clean? If you have there is a tiny, but crucial piece (recessed lock pivot bar) that can cause the folder to not have as much "lock tension" if it's left out of the post-cleaning assembly. Alright, that probably made no sense.

Anyway -- I hope everything is going well and you're recovering well from your bike accident.

Burchtree, I have never taken it apart... yet. I just tried actually striking some wood with the spine, and it didn't make a peep except for the wood. It still does it when I do it in the air though... My arm is a lot better in the cast, but my knuckles are blue and sore for some odd reason... I see the doctor again this week, so I am not too worried. Thanks for asking, I added an incoming ER T2000'big one' to my list of incoming sympathy gifts to myself and just got the Nimravus in the mail-check out my thread about that...;)

EasEWryder, when you flick your opened knife spine forward and hear that click, could it be your hand is tightening its grip and you are shifting the crossbolt?

Esav, that was the first thing I thought, so I tried it with fingers off the lock, safety on/off, etc. and it still does it. I am totally stumped! Thanks , though:)

One more try :)

I was reading a Manufacturer's thread with pictures of the lock in action (top slab removed for an x-ray view). When the lock engages, the square front end of the locking bar drops into place in a square notch on the tang. When you open the blade, is that locking bar fully inserted into the tang notch, or is there a tiny bit of drop left to go, which your flick drives it into? If so, it will click on the first flick, but not on the next flick.

Everytime I flick (successively, etc.) it it clicks. I'm gonna look at the ER forum picks, though. Thanks again Esav, keep 'em comin':)

Okey doke... Thanks a lot Frank headed your way..
wOW, THAT's service!:D

I'll miss her 'til she makes it back home from the Doctor...;)
Thanks for everyone's help!

EasEWryder:

Just tried to duplicate your situation with your latest description of what is happening.

Mine makes no noise at all.

Lets let Frank take a look at it and see whats ocurring and why it clicks.

Keep us up to speed.

Do any of you that own the M.P.C. have concern for the strength and/or durability of the Aluminum handles? Thinking alot about picking one of these up but wanted opinions on the handle. Thanks

Boink,

No worries -- I said I was hesitant on that one before, but now, I'm worry free. Frank's follow-up to just my purchase and his treatment here of Forumites have convinced me enough.

:)

EasEWryder,

Definitely send it to Frank; like brownie, I'm also unable to reproduce that noise/feel with mine.

BTW, the black & blue of your knuckles/fingers is just the "bruise" fo your break "flowing downstream." Nothing to worry much about, but have your doc take a look at it.

:)

Good luck with you knife, it has me stumped too. I hope you have some other toys to play with while your knife is away.

Mark -- don't worry about the aluminum, I've carried one for a while and still haven't found a way to hurt the handles. ;)

Frank, you are the man -- :D

Thank you gentlemen. I thought the handles would be fine. You reported exactly what I had hoped to hear.:)

Frank Miller, US distributor of Extrema Ratio Knives delivers a NEW knife to me, no charge! No surprise to me(that he made good)... If anyone has any doubts or concerns about this HARD-USE company, YOU SHOULDN'T! Thanks again Frank!
