EXTREME WEATHER STEEL

Keep in mind that surface finish can have a considerable effect on corrosion resistance or stain"less" properties as well. A higher polish can do a lot for keeping rust and such off of a blade.

Zfinit is great at 60 HRC. I use peters and its very tough and has pretty good edge holding. Nothing crazy but it holds up well, and very easy to sharpen. Supposedly you can hit 61HRC with the steel but I never asked peters to try it. Cryo is a MUST.

Vanax would have better edge holding. This is the newest version of the steel so they are trying to find the best HT for it. But its like a supercharged PM Zfinit. More nitrogen an chromium, with added vanadium, supposed to be tougher, and more stainless (crazy right?) and have better edge holding. But its very expensive.

Chuck from AKS said the exact same thing.
