Fällkniven S1 Fail Video

I can’t thank her enough, since her vid prices on their s-1 have dropped enough for me to be able to afford 2 of them, with leather sheaths! Even if it cost her some credibility, she did the right thing by me. I will try the A-1 eventually, but only with a leather sheath. Now if her pals would send her an A-1 Pro to play with(and a leather sheath to alternately soak in salt water and hot sun) I could afford one of those as well.

Gaston, I have come to the conclusion that all your posts are a joke.
None of them have any useful content, and this was confusing as to why you kept posting them, until I figured out that you are an ongoing parody of a knife owner.

You are engaged in a performance art piece, transmitted to your unwitting audience via the internet.
So bravo, your performance has been good enough to fool many people for years.

I mean, knives carried in pants socks...stabs not reaching further than elbow distance...kitchen knife edges meant for chopping...such wit! :D

Sometimes the art is a little highbrow,ie goes right over my head, as in this last case I didn’t even understand the point!

Interesting read and video. I have never owned an S1, but I have owned multiple A1's including the pre laminated versions made of straight VG10. All were excellent knives with good edge geometry. Some have said that the steel used is not a hard use steel. I suggest that it is. Laminated steels are not likely to fracture easily. As for the edge damage, I have never trusted factory edges, because I think that much of the time they are burned edges. I use my knife and take the original edge off and redo it myself. Usually I do not have a problem when I do this. I do not remember my A1's having that edge issue so I cannot believe that it is normal. But I haven't purchased an Falknivens in 4-5 years so have no clue what the modern batches are like. Love the design of that S1 though. Perfect design in my opinion.

Ok, so after looking at the pic of her edge, doesn't it look like a wire edge? Almost like someone forgot to take the burr out. At best those fractures are less than .01" and honestly, you could probably hone that off in minutes on a river rock. The tip failure is a matter of geometry and knowing what not to do with a fine tip.

Her voice dropped a little when she proclaimed the knife unworthy. She admitted to using it so as to intentionally cause such “damage”! Very much a case of “selling out,” but she did survive, and I’m pretty sure someone is enjoying that very same knife as we speak!

It looks to me like a knife that could be completely reconditioned in an hour with some sandpaper and a strop. Given what this idiot did with it, I would have to say that she did nothing more than prove the durability and usefulness of Fallkniven products after all. Any knife will chip when used against rock and burn when the edge is used to strike ferrocium rods.

I went back and scanned some of her videos, and I noticed she generally prefers low cost, high carbon steels, or low cost soft stainless steels. That is her preference I guess. But giving a positive to the Gerber BG survival knife, and The fact that she was able to bring so much gear to that island, I don’t know if she just forgot to bring a machete? (Tramontina’s are like $12-15) It also looked like she wasn’t feeding her crew anymore by the time she decided she didn’t like the s-1 and to do most of what she called damage(to the knife). The size of the fish she was eating was too small! She seemed mostly unperturbed with the dangers of being alone(of course, because she wasn’t), such as banging a coconut while under the tree, ntm swimming over a large reef with the tide quickly ebbing. Not someone I would choose to work with.

An actually very friendly and humble rebuttal of her ignorance on another matter by someone who really does this stuff rather than sells themselves as a survival youtube personality.
