The higher cost isn't in the material, it's in the time spent gathering and machining.
There's such a huge mish-mash of handle materials that have been leftover from so many special runs over the past 40 years, that in many cases, we won't know what the material is until after it has been machined. Sometimes, we still don't know what some of it is even after machining!!! A lot of our expense with the "blind handle grab" is in the time we have to spend digging through "Handle Mountain" and trying to find 2 pieces of what we hope is the same material. We then have to cut each piece out by hand to the correct dimensions to fit the fixture. It is not unusual for us to run a "pair" of handles only to find that they are from different runs of the material and can't be sold as a "pair". In the end, if we can't find a match, we end up having to throw out both pieces.

it would be interesting to see a 'super' mystery handle grab where we might get a pair of slabs of different materials lolThe higher cost isn't in the material, it's in the time spent gathering and machining.

Isnt it like $75 and you get nuked and random handles? Considering the handle upgrades are $90 bucks this seems like a steal? Cuz theres potential for a 90 dollar handle upgrade and a nuked perimetersBut that doesn’t give us as customers any added value. Black paper is still black paper to us. I’d be so disappointed if that’s what I got after paying the extra money.

Your exactly right.Everybody gets the nuclear meltdown treatment, no extra charge. The 75 bucks gets you a special handle, polished tubes, and a custom shop logo. So really it just comes down to whether you want to roll the dice on the handle.
