super excited about this knife being released in 1095CV at a lower price point, going to be loading up on them.

We had a very small run at Blade Show. Full run will hopefully be released in a month or so. Should be widely available. We are hoping it will have a street price of between $50-$60. On our website it will likely be closer to $80, which we are aiming for at MSRP (could be slightly lower or slightly higher when the dust settles.)

Ok this sounds good. I talked to one dealer who thought it would only be available through Kabar.com... this sounds like it'll be going out to the dealers. I'll be ready!

Just figured I would check in, been a little while, are these still a possibility?

What is this top-secret ka-bar I know nothing about?

just got an email from KaBar - it's finally in production and currently available on the KaBar website for $75 MSRP -- the email did not indicate if or when it will ship to dealers.

New Product Release:
F01CV Folder
The popular F01 Folder from our State & Union shop has finally found its way into the KA-BAR lineup as the F01CV. It is made with our tried and true 1095 Cro-Van—steel that knows what it’s doing and does not ask for applause. The F01CV is American manufacturing that won’t break the bank.

The 3.25" blade feels purposeful, almost conspiratorial. At 7.35" overall, the F01CV carries itself with restraint, never overstating its presence, always ready when called upon. This is not a knife that demands attention. It earns it.

Never got an answer on reversing the thumb stud, so I can only hope they didn’t choose to go right handed only. Time will tell I suppose.

First, absolutely no complaints. However, I have a question. I purchased the state and union version. This model is about half what I paid (and I will purchase one of these too!). So are there any major reasons for the materially lower price?

Anyone who owns one of the these, I would appreciate knowing whether or not the thumb stub is reversible. It looks pressed in so I’m guessing yes, but I’d like to know for sure. Official Kabar apparently has me on ignore, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

This is the answer. The State & Union version also has much more handwork in the shop that goes into it. The KA-BAR version is closer to mass production, though there is much more labor that goes into this than a normal mass produced product.
Since you are official, I would like to again say I wasn't critical in any way. More importantly if Kabar listens to you, you might suggest to Kabar to do the same thing to the other S&U knife, the $450 beauty. I have one and would look forward to dropping more money on a FORD version of that beauty!

I'd show it to a gunsmith for an opinion. But I sure can't be relied on for advice, just saying.

Thanks jbib, anything you can add will help. Do you have any idea what material it is: steel, aluminum, other?
