Fairbairn Sykes suggestions

And here's the outlier.

I bought some blueing liquid that's good for stainless steel and I'll do the handle. The silver is a little too fake silver aluminum looking for me...and it's not like I'm going to ruin a vintage dagger doing it.

It's not over yet. I messaged Spark and am waiting for a reply. My thoughts are primary impediments are moderation and the fact that many bayonets prior to a certain time period are not bladed at all, merely pointed spikes. Anyway, we'll see.

Yeah, the spikes are interesting and if given one I wouldn't object, but not something I'd actively try to acquire. But I'm also into medieval and Renaissance weapons in general, so flails, axes, hammers, or whatever are all fair game to me. Any metal object designed to cause harm just triggers some demented portion of my brain which goes, "Sure! That looks like it would be uncomfortable if inserted into your rib cage. Let me put it on my wall to ponder."

No go. Guess General Knife Discussion forum it is for the foreseeable future.

Ok, saw this one for sale recently. Any idea if it's legit or a repro or fake?

Couple of things bother me. The grip isn't actually brass, it's just painted and you can see where it's peeling off. Plus the blade has pitting, but has the blackened coating which is supposed to resist that, which tells me it may have been in bad shape, sanded down and then recoated, which would also explain the poor paint job on the handle.

Any ideas? Anyone?

Does seem genuine to me but as you stated in a pretty bad state in regards to pitting and the strange paint is another can of worms...take my opinion with a grain of salt though as I'm not nearly as knowledgeable on the topic as other members are.

Since I'm fascinated by fighting knives as well I did a bit of research myself, ended up buying a AF 5.5 limited edition from böker, a purchase I regret to this day. The factory grind was almost comically dull and another thing I've never seem from any other maker, it's a bit hard to describe without pictures...but the middle line on the blade is of center on one side of the blade 😅 QC seems to be none existent when a knife like this is sold as a collectable limited edition, customer service found "nothing wrong" so no more böker for me.

However I found a guy who makes custom Fairbairn Sykes Daggers almost exactly like the original design. A friend of mine owns one and he says the quality is very good so I'm currently planing on getting one as well. He goes by Ends Trading Post on Instagram and resides in Switzerland but ships worldwide as far as I know.
The Dagger should be prominently featured on his profile:
