Did we talk on another forum before? Anyway, I am thankful for the base being so close. the commissary really helps alot (great thing about being retired Navy!!!) If you get a chance before pcsing let me know we can meet for coffee or something
If you are trapped and not able to take advantage of bring here it is not much fun. I have a passion for the rivers and the wilderness of our state.
I am sorry to say I do not get out as much as I would like. It would take more than a life time and a lot of resources to explore this state. I have seen a lot more than most and have barely scratched the surface.

I know at one time we had the highest per capita veteran population in the US. There are good jobs to be had on post both with civilian contractors and civil service and as always your service will give you a leg up. The ideal situation would be to work in the winters and take from may until October off.

Never knew ya, dealt with ya or heard of ya BUT - You'll love it there. I spent three years in Fairbanks area at Eielson AFB and loved it. Every morning I'd walk outside and do a 360 degree turn-around, just taking it all in. MAJESTIC is the only word I feel to sufficiently describe it. And I HATE COLD WEATHER - Even more so now since they yanked out my entire thyroid gland.
I hope AK is as good to you as it was to me.
Funny, you moved there from Montana. I decided a long time ago, if I ever moved back out west it would be either Montana or Alaska... Weird!
That "big sky" thing in MT is no BS. Amazing.
