hahah, damn man.. tanto stuck in hand.. lol that had to hurt :D I tend to get stabbed and sliced when around sharp things.. I better be careful O_O

I am going to reshape and handle a pos machete for practice.. and began grinding on that 1084? last night. Hmm I need some stuff! Like a respirator! black snot! YES. And I have my first pile of steel dust! Exciting! Apparently I need to mod this cheesy grinder.. the platen extends beyond the 2in belt making putting in a ricasso hard as FOCK.. so I had to put one in with the slack of the belt, like convex sharpening.. I think it took me an hour, two tries, to get one that doesn't look completely horrible :D

So.. to put in a choil.. I'm thinking I need a spindle sander?

I don't have much time to spend, so things will happen slowly.. oh yeah you will learn this soon enough! kiddo takes UP TIME!

lates for now.

Lol you own that tanto! I was buffing that %$#@ and wham... buried the end in my palm. I'm lucky it went in at an angle!

I recently modded a couple of cheap machetes and I thought it was great practice, good idea. Lol my 24" will shave hair now!

I know exactly what you mean on the platen, I wonder if you can cut a chunk of it off to fix it. My $40 flea market POS grinder would cut just as good of a bevel as my KMG, that darn platen got in the way for cutting in ricassos though. You can file them in first with a round file and grind to them for a clean transition. I made that first chopper's ricasso with a triangular file!

Choil, yeah a dedicated spindle sander should do the trick. i wouldn't put one on a drill press though, I screwed mine up applying torsional forces, lmao... :D

Grinding the 1084! Nice! That stuff has a really fine grain (1084fg) and I think Vanadium in it. It is a really choice steel for any blade and the heat treat is the probably the easiest to pull off with little equipment, just get it to nonmagnetic and quench in a fast oil. Aldo at NJSteelbaron may be the only source for this really rockin' steel, his prices are excellent too!

Man, wakin up to the sound of sirens sucks. Especially when they are comin to your house. My best friend of many years is down from Oregon and we got to to drinkin last night. Well around 0430 hours this morning, she decided to take a couple vicadin. Well she was blue and unresponsive with erratic breathing at 0630 hours. I was a bar tender for 4 years, I know alcohol poisoning when I see it. Made the call, got her on her way to the hospital. Sent my wife with her to keep an eye on her.

I will update later. Right now I need some grub.

Hehe, you got it Sloth! She is still out like a light, just put an IV in and will start a charcoal filter soon. Sucks because I have to leave in an hour to do a boat delivery so I won't get to see her. She is suposed to leave for Oregon tomorrow, but I don't know if that will be happening now.

I just realized the scary part of all this, I went head to head with her except for the vicadin. She ain't no lightweight either, she's got 50+ lbs on me and quite a bit more day to day drinking than I do. I feel fine. Not even hung over, just a bit tired due to only an hours rest.

Man that was probably a close call, that codeine can do bad stuff. I'm glad she is safe!

Boat delivery... where to?

Party like a RockStar;)

You know how I roll! I just got home a little bit ago and checked out the tox report. I sure as hell didn't see vicadin on it. We had a long talk. She's lucky to be alive right now.

Didn't get to deliver the boat today. A simple halyard replacement ended up being a 4 hour project and I spent 2 hours at the top of the mast. Totally blew my departure window, now I have to do it tomorrow and I didn't want to be on the river Friday on the first of the month. Every idiot with anything that floats will be out there.

Whats up ya'll...

I have company in from out of town and am on day 2 of my "weekend" so more stuff soon!

Winding down after the boat delivery today. Took a bunch of pics, had a pleasant uneventful ride. I will post pics tomorrow.

The boat delivery went well yesterday. Nothing big, just a short trip down the river. Total travel time was 3h5m at 6 knots. I fought the tide for the first 30 minutes and then it went slack to ebb and I picked up 0.8 kts over the ground. Wind was calm at 8-10 kts, but right on the nose. It is a small boat, 24', old and crusty looking. It is strictly a race boat, though, and a fast one as well. If it doesn't make the boat go faster, it is very low priority. I don't have any pictures of the boat, I just couldn't do it.

Warm sun, cold beer, and on the water. Only two things can make this better, and they fit into a bikini...

Here is my morning comute traffic. My club is hosting a cruising rally so there were quite a few boats headed upstream. Here are just a few.

There is so much stuff out here in the Delta its crazy. Bars, marinas, ski clubs, duck clubs, wilderness areas, etc...
This is Tinsley Island owned by the St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco. It is a premier place, four star for sure, and I have been to a couple legendary stag cruises there.

So let's say you own some hotels. What do you do with your money? How about buy an entire island and build a big ass house on it! This thing is masive, right about 22,000 sq.ft. the whole thing won't fit in one frame. This belongs to Conrad Hilton, yep, that Hilton family. Paris' grandfather, although I have never seen her at this house.

And for a little contrast, one mans paradise is another mans last resort. Yes this place is inhabited...que the dualing banjo's..

There are lots of derelects out here as well. This old crane was abandoned in the 70's I believe.

Woohoo! Made it. This is the entrance to Owl Harbour, home of Andreas Cove Yacht Club. Several facilities share this harbour and ACYC is all the way at the back, almost another half mile from where I took this picture.

Just because its called a yacht club, doesn't mean its nice...

Anyways, thanx for checkin out my day on the water. Keep it real. Peace.
