Not going with a Dji Phantom and gopro camera? There is a new possibly better alt. to that.. the 3DRobotics Solo... very promising. If you haven't seen the videos... check em out!

Making it great and getting sick! YAY kids... ugh :)

At least the weather isn't going to be that exciting so sitting at home won't be that sucky...

Pics soon, I have a few knives almost ready to go out this week. :D

My shop is total mayhem, I have quite a few things to get going... mill, disc sander, larger KMG workrest, two forges, blown forge burner, anvil related stuff, jewelry making gear, micarta making and much more! ...once everything is in place it will be on with the folders! I can barely walk around in there...

I'm going to continue to dabble with the jewelry, metalworking and blacksmithing, it is a lot of fun. I just got 12 feet of Copper in and I am going to use Sterling Silver as well. I'm going to cast some metal even... most likely one off pieces in Tufa stone molds I will carve. All of this will be incorporated into new school knives as well! This is all part of my plan...

This week - Kydex for a Ti Tanto, Two Backpackers, 2 Motivators (one will be available)... these are almost ready to go! I also have two damascus minidashis completed (will likely do a run later with leather watch pocket sheaths) Two veggie peelers are almost there also! Most of these knives have been in progress for a while and really need to get finished up.

After that - Mega RF2, 2 double ground Kwaikens and 2 double ground in a new design to complete... 3 friction folders on the way

Kwaiken Folders, maybe a RF2 rigging knife, z-fiNit dive knife... all in the future plans!

I'm also going to make more copper bracelets soon and if I was taking orders would be backlogged for a while... I did not expect this and it is pretty cool! I also forged a steel bracelet while curing my forge... used a pick axe as a makeshift horn and it surprisingly worked nicely! I need to get pics...

They were on the list. The Q500+ flies better, and has better battery life than the Phantom, and for now is better supported than the Solo or Iris (the Solo looks BADASS though). They also are going to have a 4K update to this camera soon (and the gimbal performs very well). This is more a competitor to the DJI inspire, imo, than the Phantom. They are going to be releasing a gimbal for the GoPros for the Q500 this year as well - so if I want that flexibility, I can add it without needing a new flying platform.

3d solo is going to be my next drone for sure. Think it's only predorder right now. But it looks fantastic.

Daniel- sounds like we need shop pics :D how about a peek at the dive knife?

DRP, I agree... The 3Dsolo is made for Gpro cameras and has all the goodies built in- including a 3axis gimble. The news about it sounds amazing.

Basically, if you have a Gopro the solo will be the drone for it. I can't recall release date for it...

You guys rock! I want a drone... they sound really fun and great for real estate pics, etc...

We all went to Silverton, CO today... first time in years and it was nice! We were surprised to see 6" snow drifts and plenty of snow coming down... we were at 10,910 feet! We checked out the mines and historical sites which I really enjoy.
 
Rolf, I think it snowed once when I was in the 2nd grade ..... back in 1800 somethin' :D
Daniel, did you get that Mill set up yet?
Sloth, I was was told by someone not to get a GoPro and I should check out what Garmin is offering..... but I don't know crap about that stuff. I do know that my work will let me use a GoPro anytime I want. Maybe I will check it out one day.

I like my garmin better than my gopro. Battery life, and operation of controls is much easier, but I don't know of a drone that can use the garmin.

From what I can tell, there are still some significant FAA restrictions on commercial use - just a heads up. GoPro's newest top models offer video quality that is hard to beat at that price point - especially for something that small/light and tough.

To get the 3D Robotics Solo + gimbal + GoPro black would be about $700 more than what I paid for this rig. If I can fly this one now, and upgrade the camera and gimbal down the line, I think I still come out ahead.
 
The brand new garmin sport cam that came out this month looks very good.. But I already have a gopro 3 black edition and won't be upgrading for sometime..

If I didn't have either, I'd possibly go with VIRB elite. Sounds more user friendly and has more mounting options.

As a company, I wouldn't invest in either unless you play options or keep size small. Garmin kind of died with smart phones... Their action cameras have a chance of life, but with the action camera space being so competitive, I would look else where...

'Sup fellas!

Had a great day on the range, diagnosed some issues with my rifle 100%, got things dialed in and shot well. Not well enough though, 1st - 4th place all had perfect scores:eek:!! Now I need to drill out the gas port in my barrel, modify my magazines, lube and tune, rotate tires and it should be gtg! At least I now have a solid plan of attack. Oh, and it managed to hold 2MOA at 550 yards just fine! 15-18 knot winds made it tough, but I knew my exterior ballistics well enough to handle it!

We shot chickens at 200 meters, Turkeys at 385 meters, pigs at 300 meters and rams at 500 meters. Had very low standard deviation in my load, which gave minimal elevation deviation at all ranges. Making hits just a twist of the elevation know and a windage call.

I wore my DFK Stinger today too, I think it was good luck! Definitely was good looking!

Flat- Nope! That is as is from Daniel! Color is off just a bit due to weird lighting.
