I thought I'd show you guys what I've been up to this month.

Earlier this month I started up a massive batch of choppers!

Here's 12 feet of .360" 5160 steel! 34 pounds right there  I also used some .262" 5160 and some 3" tall .250" 5160.

Then I bust out the chop saw. It is important that I use these "Disco Abrasivo" blades to make the knives.

Cutting the stock so I have a little less grinding to profile to do later

Here they are, vaguely resembling knives at this point. Some are semi profiled and some are still blocky from my saw work.

After the choppers were profiled and heat treated I started up a batch of 12 A2 tantos!

Closer to profile...

Here's the first one from the batch, I accidentally ground both sides! I think it will still work!

I was experimenting with different stonewash media and finally found the look I was going for!

After about three more weeks of working every day on them I have the combined batches glued up!

Here's what I'm up to today, cord wraps.

 But wait, there's more!

I finished a teak scaled rigging knife in 154cm steel.

I have been experimenting with coloring damascus and have 2 damascus tantos in the works as well.

Awesome stuff as usual Daniel. Your combo grinds are insane man! I really like when you do them in high polish.

OMG, you heat-treated those choppers before grinding them?!?
You must really have a grudge against abrasives!

That rigging knife is SWEET!

Disco Abrasivo! I'll second that, or third it....wherever it's at right now. Great update Daniel! You are working like a dog these days.......and did I mention that I love dogs?! :D

Good stuff buddy!

Looking great, Daniel!

Yeah, that would be a great name for the unofficial ShopTalk band. I know we've got some musicians around here... and a drummer, too.

:p

Geeze Daniel, you keep taunting me by putting pics of my rigging knife up! I just can't wait to get my grubby paws on that thing and put it to work.
