Got an email tonight from "tony breedwell" Not 100% on his BladeForums name. Offered me a "Emerson Commander 2008 Production". I confronted him on it and he has yet to reply. Here is the picture I got of the "commander",

I'm almost 100% positive I've never seen an Emerson with torx. Input???

The logo looks like it's missing some items.
All of the Commanders I've seen are phillips screws.
But I'm not a Commander expert so take that info for what it's worth.

Send the pic to Emerson, and ask him to decide.

I have a few early Emersons that have Torx, but IIRC, all are phillips now.

That looks fake to me. Does it have the double detent balls (one on either side of the blade) ?

The real deal also has a brighter logo. Serrations on thumb ramp are higher in "frequency" if that makes sense. The real ones are deeper and fewer.

I would definitely check with Emerson. There have been a lot of Commander counterfeits, and some of them have looked close to the real thing. The screws don't look right, but I can't say for sure. Emerson has at least a couple of different logos and this one looks like one of the ones they use. The serrations look okay to me.

The more I look at that knife the less I would have to do with it personaly.

The swedge on the blade, lack of jumping at the but of the handle dont match up with an 08 commanders specs.
The torx, the visible machining lines under the blade coating, the thumb disc mounting area, the serations and
the shaping of the G-10 all make this knife look suspect to me.

Beware, this reeks of the Saudi Scammer!

If he has a gmail account, let me or Charlie Mike know a little more, or check farther into the feedback.

It sounds reminiscent of the names he has given in the past...

Not to be an alarmist, but I'm still seething about getting ripped off, and he is back........

Good advice, but any Emerson fan worth his salt can immediately identify the fact that the pictured knife is a fake! Edited so bad guys no get laundry list

actually (on productions) they pretty much all have the phillips except for the CQC12 & HD7 which both have torx.

if yours doesnt have the phillips someone might have changed them out, or.....?

as far as the commander in question imho its a fake the serrations dont look right to me.

has anyone ever seen an EKI fake that wasnt a commander? i havent, ya see a lotta fugazzee commanders too these days.

This is from another forum. The photo is so-so but it is the serrated portion of a definite fake. They look alike?

Then, the real deal

You can buy those off Deal Extreme for $8.
Not bad for an $8 knife, but it ain't no Commander(although
to the Emerson neophite it looks like the real thing).

I didn't look very hard at the posted pic, and I also have another excuse which I'll keep to myself at this time.

I was mistaken on the screws. My apologies.

No worries, Mike. Asking the maker is always a fool-proof way of determining whether or not a knife is genuine.

And the faker says: "So sorry. Thank you for laundry list. For my next run, I will try and do better."

And they will. :(

[Ed. Good point.]
