Fake Mnandi

"The original box is not included, only the knife and leather sheath are included."

Kinda adds on to the whole idea of a fake. That sheath seriously looks like someones kid made it in arts and craft.

Sad thing is there is 2 offers on in right now.

1--The nail nick looks too long and thin
2--This could be the angle but the cut out to unlock the lock bar looks too large. In other words, you can see too much of the lock bar.
3--The bevel on the lock bar cutout on mine goes very, very close to the wood, but that one is 3-4 times larger. I'm talking about the flat satin portion between wood and lock bar cutout bevel
4--Again this could be the angle, but that bevel looks too steep
5--Again there's too much satin between the wood and edge near the far end

Could be wrong, I just got up :D
Also I'm going off my 2008 model and don't know if these things have changed over time.

The same guy sold a mammoth Mnandi for 300.00 a few days ago on eBay. No box or paperwork just the knife and leather slip case.

This video shows fake Mnandi. (not my video)

Wow this guy is a scumbag - Check out his completed listings:

He was trying to sell a "Camel Bone inlay" mnandi - it didn't sell, so he re-listed the exact same knife passing it off as ivory.
These are the exact same two knives as in the video lisa showed.
This stuff really pisses me off
I like how in the video he is demonstrating the "strength" of the lockbar, and it disengages - ha - what a piece of garbage. Too bad he didn't cut himself

Hopefully there's some recourse for folks who buy brand name items which turn out to be fake and misrepresented.....maybe in Paypal protection plan?

Unfortunately their only recourse would be to sell it to someone else (which may be the case here).

I saw one of the fake Mnandis at the weekend, if you have seen a real one you will not be fooled by these. They are much thicker (Ti and inlays) than the real Mnandi, the blade finish was glaringly not CRK, the logo on the clip looked hand engraved and badly placed not to mention it was probably twice the weight. All in all a laughable attempt from what I have seen.

It's a shame. I'm sure the purchasers thought they got a heck of a deal.

What a drag:grumpy:

It is amazing that the goober selling has 288 transactions with a 100% of them being rated positive.

wow...this tool is prolly making a killing selling fakes so he can buy the real thing for his collection.

WOW, looks well done for a fake! even it it's "easy" to spot it, the sheath is the easier part of course
bad pics don't help...

bad bad is he sold them for 300, paid 50 maybe....sorry for the poor guy that is 300$ poorer

They are both fake. China doesn't make real CRKs.

OK, sorry. I do not know much about the video, but the first knife seemed to lock-up pretty solid, then on to the second knife which did not. I thought maybe it was a comparison of a real CRK and the fake.

They are both very fake indeed, that vid does a splendid job of showing you the difference in qulity and the lack of consistency in production. These knives just look like a CRK there are not and will never be a bargain buy or a worth while alternative to the real thing.
