Fake Mnandi

Yup, and he wanted ~US$260 as I saw in your first thread. Who ever bought that deserves what they get, I'm sorry to say.

Whoever this guy is sure is making a killing selling of these fakes! I just don't understand why people are jumping on something that's obviously to good to be true.

These knives are taken down after complaints from people like us, not because ebay is activly looking for them.
I agree 100% Haze. This policy will never change unless there's an attempt to force accountability and hold the host responsible; and that's just not going to happen. As everyone knows, Ebay is an open marketplace and with that comes associated risks; an educated consumer is the only means by which to mitigate the potential pitfalls.

While it's easy to point fingers and pick apart business model flaws; it's at the same time unrealistic to expect a free marketplace to spend their own dollars, allocate resources and staff for a very small percentage of issues that aren't widespread enough to affect their bottom line, especailly when it's void of legal remifications for liability. While I share many of the same frustration with the Bay that everyone else does, I also accept the fact that, as a consumer; it's up to me to do my due diligence, educate myself and never waiver from the philosophy that "if it sounds to good to be true..." , because in the end, I'm the only one that can prevent me from being duped.

Guys, I'm the buyer of the Mnandi listed in the 1st post. I have a couple of Sebenzas but I don't have a Mnandi. The price seemed good but not "too good" for a pre-owned knife so I went for it. I got suspicious when I saw the exact same knife photo on that other listing mentioned here so I started searching on fake Mnandis and found this thread.

The knife hasn't arrived yet. I will be learning all that I can about fake Mnandis in the next few days.

I am open to suggestions as how to proceed.

You should have recourse through Ebay or PayPal. File a dispute. The item is a counterfeit and violates Ebay piracy policy. It will take some time, but I don't see you losing on this one. As far as fakes. The best thing to do is to spend some time perusing Aliexpress ..... just about every variant of crappy Chinese knockoff is listed for sale there. And .... it's not just CRKs, believe me.

Unfortunately for me I have won several cases with ebay and paypal. None have been for actual fakes but I have had numerous problems including bad descriptions and straight out non-shipped items. The one I didn't win was when I bought 2 of something and they only shipped 1 because they paid postage for the weight of 2. It was a straight up scam. Luckily it was a cheap item, less than $20. On the bad listing all I had to do was ship it back then wait a couple more weeks while they extracted money from the dead beat. I think you should go through ebay rather than paypal. I know it's a fine line but ebay resolutions have been much cleaner for me for some reason.

Item not as described, money back, is how you should proceed. I hope it turnes out to be that simple for you. :)

Agreed. Item title clearly stated Chris Reeve product. Not Chris Reeve "Style" or however else scammers try to pawn off fake goods.
